Influence of Nutritional Status on Prognosis of Stroke Patients With Dysphagia
Conclusion • The prognosis of stroke patients with dysphagia is related to their nutritional status. A better nutritional status indicates the better prognosis, and vice versa. In clinical treatment, attention should be paid to use of a nutritional intervention.PMID:35648694

The association between HDL ‐C and stroke in the middle‐aged and elderly: A cross‐sectional study
ConclusionWe found a nonlinear relationship between HDL-C and total stroke. Our study reveals a range of inverse associations between HDL-C and stroke (HDL-C<1.55  mmol/L), especially among men and Whites. This finding suggested that maintaining an appropriate HDL-C range may be beneficial in reducing the incidence of stroke.

Prevent 2nd Stroke: a pilot study of an online secondary prevention program for stroke survivors.

Human cytomegalovirus infection is associated with stroke in women: the US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999-2004
Conclusions We found a strong association between HCMV and stroke in women from the nationally representative population-based survey. This provide additional motivation for undertaking the difficult challenge to reduce the prevalence of stroke.

Tea consumption and risk of stroke in Chinese adults: a prospective cohort study of 0.5 million men and women.

Risk of stroke following antivenom use after venomous snakebite: correspondence
We read with great interest the epidemiological study by Hunget al.1 on the risk of stroke with antivenom use after venomous snakebite in Taiwan. According to the national medical claims data, the authors provide us with useful information and disclose that venomous snakebite is associated with an increased risk of hemorrhagic stroke after the use of antivenom after using the matching propensity score in relevant measurable covariates. The Efficacy of a Comprehensive Reminder System to Improve Health Behaviors and Blood Pressure Control in Hypertensive Ischemic Stroke Patients: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Conclusion: At 3 months, use of the Comprehensive Reminder System based on the Health Belief Model, yielded improvement in most health behaviors and blood pressure control in hypertensive ischemic stroke patients. Continued implementation of this intervention protocol is warranted to determine the long-term effect. Smoking and alcohol use behaviors need to be targeted with a different intervention.

CONCLUSIONS: the case suggests that thiamine deficiency presumably causes mitochondrial dysfunction with cerebrospinal fluid lactic acidosis and a stroke-like lesion mimicking MELAS syndrome.
