ConclusionsThe decision to thrombolyse or perform an LP in HaNDL patients mimicking a stroke is difficult in the acute setting. Perfusion CT can provide misleading results and CTA may be useful in ruling out occlusion of a cerebral vessel.

T Cells Prevent Hemorrhagic Transformation in Ischemic Stroke by P-Selectin Binding.
CONCLUSIONS: The study identifies lymphopenia as a previously unrecognized risk factor for secondary hemorrhagic transformation in mice after severe ischemic stroke. T cells prevent hemorrhagic transformation by their capacity to bind platelets through P-selectin. The results highlight the role of T cells in bridging immunity and hemostasis in ischemic stroke. Conclusions The spectrum of stroke in a developing country was similar to published series from developed countries in terms of final diagnosis, risk factors, and delay to ED presentation, neuroimaging, and long-term neurodeficits. No tropical diseases were identified as risk factors.

Cardiac papillary fibroelastoma and stroke during pregnancy: Case report.
We report the case of a woman with severe headache associated with visual disturbances, without hypertension or proteinuria at 32 weeks of pregnancy. MRI revealed multiple recent cerebral vascular accidents. An echocardiogram detected a papillary fibroelastoma of 5mm. Maternal fetal experts determined it safe to continue the pregnancy. Childbirth at 39 weeks was normal uneventful for the newborn and mother. Patent foramen ovale and stroke in intermediate-risk pulmonary embolism.
CONCLUSIONS: PFO and related ischemic strokes are frequent in intermediate-risk pulmonary embolism. TEE is much more efficient than TTE for PFO diagnostic. Considering the high risk of intra-cranial bleeding with thrombolysis in PE, which in part may be due to haemorrhagic transformation of sub-clinical strokes, screening PFO with TEE should be considered in intermediate risk PE when a thrombolytic treatment is discussed. Comparison of susceptibility-weighted and perfusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging in the detection of penumbra in acute ischemic stroke
Conclusions DWI-SWI mismatch is a good marker for evaluating ischemic penumbra in stroke patients with cerebral infarction. SWI can detect thrombus in the affected vessels, and may be useful for guiding intra-arterial thrombolytic therapy.

Thrombus Characteristics Are Related to Collaterals and Angioarchitecture in Acute Stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: Clot length and baseline collateral status are independent predictors of clot hyperdensity on NCCT and blooming artifact on gradient recall echo. Longer clots are more likely to be hyperdense and to bloom more, probably because portions of these clots are freshly formed locally due to of stasis of blood around the original clot.
