Cerebral infarction and cortical subarachnoid hemorrhage preceded vascular contraction in reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome patient with hidden breast cancer
We report a case of RCVS with hidden breast cancer in which ischemic stroke and cortical subarachnoid hemorrhage were observed earlier than vasoconstriction, and there were positive autoantibodies.

Clinical profile and role of C-reactive protein and lactate dehydrogenase as prognostic marker and comparative efficacy of different pharmacotherapeutic agents in patients with cerebrovascular accident: An observational study
Dibya Jyoti Sharma, K Jeenaleima Singha, Karuna Das, Chandrama Das, M RakeshIndian Journal of Pharmacology 2021 53(6):484-488 The current study was conducted to determine the role of C-reactive protein (CRP) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) as prognostic-marker and outcomes of different pharmacotherapeutic agents among patients with cerebrovascular accident (CVA). A hospital-based observational study was conducted and patients with CVA admitted were included. Serum-CRP on admission correlated positively with modified Rankin score (mRS) (r = 0.9, P < 0.001) in ischemic stroke, whereas no correlation be...

Cerebral Ptosis: A Revisit
Monalisa Vegda, Samhita Panda, Sarbesh Tiwari, Kartikeya Shukla, Jaya Pamnani, Suryanarayanan BhaskarNeurology India 2022 70(3):1161-1164 Ptosis, unilateral or bilateral, partial or complete, occurring in cases of cerebral ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke, trauma or tumor without involvement of brainstem or oculo-sympathetic mechanism can be termed as cerebral ptosis. Such eyelid dysfunction can occur with hemispheric involvement of either side. It is associated with higher frequency of gaze preference to side of lesion as well as upgaze limitation compared to patients without cerebral ptosis. Here, we present our observati...

Predictors of early neurological deterioration following intravenous thrombolysis: Difference between risk factors for ischemic and hemorrhagic worsening
Conclusion: END occurs in one fifth of patients after intravenous thrombolysis; ENDi outnumbers ENDh. Proximal artery occlusion is a major predictor for END. Potentially modifiable risk factors include admission hyperglycemia and elevated blood pressures. Distinct factors characterize ENDh and ENDi and can guide prevention and management strategies. IScore identifies patients at risk for END.

Pharmacologic Reperfusion Therapy with Indigenous Tenecteplase in 15,222 patients with ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction - The Indian Registry.
CONCLUSION: This study confirms the safety and efficacy of indigenous tenecteplase in Indian patients with STEMI, including high risk subgroups. It also highlights the fact that delayed treatment denotes denial of benefits of pharmacologic reperfusion therapy. PMID: 23993004 [PubMed - in process]

What Causes Microcephaly?
Discussion Microcephaly is usually defined as an occipitofrontal head circumference (OFC) more than 2 standard deviations (SD) below the mean for sex, age and ethnicity. Severe microcephaly is used for OFC < 3 standard deviations. Rates of microcephaly range from 0.5-12 patients/10,000 live births. The OFC should be measured at every well child visit and at other opportunities and plotted on standard growth charts. The OFC is measured using a nonelastic tape measure around the largest part of the head with the tape measure held above the eyebrows and ears. It is a highly reproducible measurement. There are several diff...

Clinical presentation, neuroimaging findings, and predictors of brain parenchymal lesions in cerebral vein and dural sinus thrombosis: A retrospective study
Conclusion: CVST presents in young and more commonly in females. TS was the most common site of venous sinus thrombosis. Female gender, seizures, altered sensorium and focal neurological deficit at presentation, and straight sinus thrombosis were more likely associated with the presence of brain parenchymal lesions.
