CT Perfusion Does Not Modify the Effect of Reperfusion in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke Undergoing Endovascular Treatment in the ESCAPE-NA1 Trial INTERVENTIONAL
CONCLUSIONS: CTP did not modify the effect of near-complete reperfusion on clinical outcomes. Thus, CTP cannot explain why some patients with near-complete reperfusion have poor clinical outcomes.

Neurophysiologic Features Reflecting Brain Injury During Pediatric ECMO Support
ConclusionsIncreased seizure burden and increased interhemispheric differences in both quantitative electroencephalographic amplitude and TCD MCA TIBI scores are independently associated with acute brain injury in children undergoing ECMO support.

Case Report: Giant Cell Arteritis-Related Stroke
Thromboembolic events are major contributors to the morbidity and mortality of patients with giant cell arteritis (GCA), but little is known about how GCA may increase the risk of ischemic strokes. GCA-related stroke is described as an ischemic cerebral infarct occurring within three to four weeks of GCA diagnosis and treatment. It occurs in 3–7%... [Read More]

MCPIP-1 knockdown enhances endothelial colony-forming cell angiogenesis via the TFRC/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway in the ischemic penumbra of MCAO mice
In this study, we performed Proteome Profiler™ Human Angiogenesis Antibody arrays and tandem mass tag protein profiling to investigate the effect of MCPIP-1 on ECFCs. We demonstrated that MCPIP-1 knockdown enhanced the proliferation, migration, and in vivo and in vitro angiogenic capacity of ECFCs by upregulating the transferrin receptor-activated AKT/m-TOR signaling pathway to promote cellular trophic factor secretion. Furthermore, we found that the lateral ventricular transplantation of ECFCs with lentiviral MCPIP-1 knockdown into mice with middle cerebral artery occlusion increased serum vacular endothelial growth fac...

Genetic Architecture of Ischaemic Strokes after COVID-19 Shows Similarities with Large Vessel Strokes
Int J Mol Sci. 2023 Aug 30;24(17):13452. doi: 10.3390/ijms241713452.ABSTRACTWe aimed to analyse whether patients with ischaemic stroke (IS) occurring within eight days after the onset of COVID-19 (IS-COV) are associated with a specific aetiology of IS. We used SUPERGNOVA to identify genome regions that correlate between the IS-COV cohort (73 IS-COV cases vs. 701 population controls) and different aetiological subtypes. Polygenic risk scores (PRSs) for each subtype were generated and tested in the IS-COV cohort using PRSice-2 and PLINK to find genetic associations. Both analyses used the IS-COV cohort and GWAS from MEGASTRO...

Identification of Novel Circular RNA Targets in Key Penumbra Region of Rats After Cerebral Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury
AbstractCircular RNAs (circRNAs) are abundantly and stably expressed in the brain of mammals and humans. Some circRNAs are implicated in ischemic stroke. Therefore, we aimed to detect how circRNAs change in the key penumbra area during cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (CI/R) injury. Rats were subjected to transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO), during which the permanent blocking period was 2 h and reperfusion time was 24 or 72 h. Then modified neurologic severity score (mNSS), triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (TTC) staining and HE staining were used to exhibiting damage between rats in different groups. The penumbr...
