Role of Non ‐Steroidal Anti‐Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) in the Association between Osteoarthritis and Cardiovascular Diseases: A Longitudinal Study
ConclusionFindings of this first study to evaluate NSAID's mediating role in OA ‐CVD relationship suggest that NSAID use substantially contributes to the OA‐CVD association. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Cholangiocarcinoma manifesting as non-bacterial thrombotic endocarditis in a young patient
A 41-year-old female with steroid-dependent rheumatoid arthritis and a recent (four months prior) cerebellar stroke presented with complaints of constant headache and right eye blindness of one day.  At the time of the cerebellar stroke, she had presented with persistent headaches, dizziness and gait instability. That workup, including hypercoagulability evaluation, was unremarkable apart from the radiographic abnormalities diagnosing her left medial cerebellar hemisphere infarct. She was disc harged with a plan for outpatient loop recorder placement and aspirin for secondary stroke prevention.

Anti ‐citrullinated protein antibody specificities, rheumatoid factor isotypes and incident cardiovascular events in patients with rheumatoid arthritis
ConclusionsRF isotypes and ACPA are associated with future CV events. ACPA levels and number of sub ‐specificities seem more important than the occurrence of particular sub‐specificities. These associations were not explained by smoking.

Anti –Citrullinated Protein Antibody Specificities, Rheumatoid Factor Isotypes, and Incident Cardiovascular Events in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis
ConclusionRF isotypes and ACPAs are associated with future CV events in patients with RA. ACPA levels and number of subspecificities seem more important than the occurrence of particular subspecificities, and these associations were not explained by a history of ever smoking.

Multimorbidity in Community-Dwelling Older Adults in Beijing: Prevalence and Trends, 2004 –2017
ConclusionsMultimorbidity is common and the overall and age-, sex-, and region-specific multimorbidity prevalence has been increasing over the past 13 years. Public health policies should account for the more complex care needs and growing costs associated with increasing prevalence of chronic disease and multimorbidity in Chinese older adults.

Cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in patients with spondyloarthritis: A meta ‐analysis
ConclusionsOur meta ‐analysis demonstrated that patients with SpA have a significantly increased risks of MI and stroke, but without a significant increase in the all‐cause mortality, than that in the general population. The higher risk of CV in patients with SpA than that in the general population indicates the ne ed for strict risk factor correction and disease management.

Benefits of Methotrexate Use on Cardiovascular Disease Risk among Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients Initiating Biologic Disease-Modifying Antirheumatic Drugs.
CONCLUSION: Among RA patients receiving biologics, concomitant methotrexate use was associated with a 24% lower risk for CVD events. PMID: 33060309 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

O27  Frailty and co-morbidity in people with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
Conclusion Co-morbidity is associated with an increased occurrence of pre-frailty and frailty among people with OA and RA and interacts synergistically with OA and RA to increase the likelihood of pre-frailty and frailty.Disclosure M.J. A Novel Approach to New-Onset Hemiplegic Shoulder Pain With Decreased Range of Motion Using Targeted Diagnostic Nerve Blocks: The ViVe Algorithm
Introduction: Hemiplegic shoulder pain (HSP) is the most common pain disorder after stroke with incidence estimates of 30–70% and associated with reductions in function, interference with rehabilitation, and a reduced quality of life. Onset may occur as soon as a week after stroke in 17% of patients. Management of HSP represents a complex treatment pathway with a lack of evidence to support one treatment. The pain has heterogeneous causes. In the acute setting, decreased range of motion in the shoulder can be due to early-onset spasticity, capsular pattern stiffness, glenohumeral pathology, or complex regional pain syndr...

Real-world impact of disease on functioning and activity: what is missed when using general instruments to estimate quality-adjusted life year
CONCLUSION: Differences in rankings of disease severity by metric indicate that the results of cost-utility analyses might be biased against treatments for certain diseases. As patient preferences for clinical outcomes vary, the full burden of disease should be considered in evaluations. Restricting access to treatments based on an incomplete estimate of burden could lead to misallocation of resources and a withholding of therapies that patients find valuable.PMID:34775901 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2021.2006535
