Embolic Strokes and Relapsing Infective Endocarditis Due to Neisseria Subflava (P1.316)
CONCLUSIONS: N.subflava can be a causative agent for relapsing infective endocarditis complicated with embolic strokes. Validated Risk Score for Predicting 6-Month Mortality in Infective Endocarditis Valvular Heart Disease
Conclusions Six-month mortality after IE is 25% and is predicted by host factors, IE characteristics, and IE complications. Surgery during the index hospitalization is associated with lower mortality but is performed less frequently in the highest risk patients. A simplified risk model may be used to identify specific risk subgroups in IE.

Novel Tissue Level Effects of the Staphylococcus aureus Enterotoxin Gene Cluster Are Essential for Infective Endocarditis
Conclusions Our studies support the local tissue effects of egc superantigens for establishment and progression of infective endocarditis providing evidence for their role in life-threatening illnesses. In contrast, TSST-1 contributes to both infective endocarditis and lethal sepsis. IVIG may be a useful adjunct therapy for infective endocarditis and sepsis.

Can radiological characteristics of preoperative cerebral lesions predict postoperative intracranial haemorrhage in endocarditis patients? ADULT CARDIAC
CONCLUSIONS The results suggest that the incidence of postoperative ICH in IE patients was slightly higher in the presence of preoperative cerebral infarcts. In addition, preoperative cerebral ischaemic infarcts complicated with HT tended to have a higher incidence of postoperative ICH than those not complicated with HT. However, the difference was not statistically significant. Multiple preoperative cerebral infarcts were not associated with higher incidence of postoperative ICH compared with single cerebral infarcts.

It causes the majority of Gram-negative endocarditis cases. It has a higher risk of embolization and stroke and tends to affect younger individuals when compared to non-HACEK endocarditis. Clinical features and changes in epidemiology of infective endocarditis on pacemaker devices over a 27-year period (1987-2013)
Conclusion Infective endocarditis on pacemaker devices has shown an increasing incidence during the past decades, representing almost 10% of all IE in the last 6 years. This is a severe disease, with a high rate of severe complications and requiring removal of device in most cases. In spite of therapy, early mortality is high.

Long-Term Outcome and Valve Surgery for Infective Endocarditis in the Systematic Analysis of a Community Study
Conclusions In unselected patients with IE, prognostic factors for long-term mortality were consistent with those identified in previous studies for short-term mortality. These results confirm the apparent benefit associated with valve surgical procedures on long-term prognosis.

Streptococcus agalactiae Native Valve Endocarditis: Uncommon Presentation of Multiple Myeloma.
We report a rare case of a 74 years old man presenting with fever, renal infarction, ischemic stroke and uveitis. Infective endocarditis was diagnosed and Streptococcus agalactiae was isolated in blood cultures. A multiple myeloma Ig G-K was also diagnosed. The infective endocarditis was successfully treated with a course of benzylpenicillin and gentamicin. The authors highlight the severity of vascular embolic disease present in this case and the diagnostic challenge.
