Stress granules inhibit endoplasmic reticulum stress-mediated apoptosis during hypoxia-induced injury in acute liver failure
CONCLUSION: SGs could protect hepatocytes from hypoxia-induced damage during ALF by reducing ERS-mediated apoptosis.PMID:36925453 | PMC:PMC10011964 | DOI:10.3748/wjg.v29.i8.1315

ATF4-mediated CD36 Upregulation Contributes to Palmitate-induced Lipotoxicity in Hepatocytes
In this study, our data revealed for the first time that ATF4 plays a critical role in mediating hepatic CD36 expression. Genetic inhibition of ATF4 attenuated CD36 upregulation induced by either palmitate or ER stress inducer tunicamycin in hepatocytes. In mice, tunicamycin upregulates liver CD36 expression, whereas hepatocyte-specific ATF4 knockout mice manifest lower hepatic CD36 expression when compared to control animals. Furthermore, we demonstrated that CD36 upregulation upon palmitate exposure represents a feedforward mechanism in that siRNA knockdown of CD36 in hepatocytes blunted ATF4 activation induced by both p...

Suppression of galectin-4 attenuates peritoneal metastasis of poorly differentiated gastric cancer cells
ConclusionsWe clarified the role of galectin-4 in the development of peritoneal dissemination of poorly differentiated gastric cancer cells. Our data highlight the diagnostic and therapeutic potential of galectin-4 in the peritoneal dissemination of gastric cancer.

Bepirovirsen/GSK3389404: Antisense or TLR9 agonists?
Yuen et  al.1 suggest that HBsAg reductions observed with the N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc)-conjugated antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) GSK 3389404 reflect ASO-mediated HBV mRNA degradation. This interpretation is inconsistent with in vivo and clinical data accumulated over 15 years establishing the highl y conserved pharmacodynamic protein response signatures and sensitivity to single point mutations shared by GalNAc-ASOs and GalNAc-conjugated small interfering RNA (siRNA).

Correction: Therapeutic potential of FLANC, a novel primate-specific long non-coding RNA in colorectal cancer
Pichler M, Rodriguez-Aguayo C, Nam SY, et al. Therapeutic potential of FLANC, a novel primate-specific long non-coding RNA in colorectal cancer. Gut 2020;69:1818–31. In figure 6A a wrong panel was included in the bottom row. The correct figure 6 is below. The figure legend remains the same. In the section: siRNA therapeutics targeting FLANC leads to decreased proliferation and metastasis in vivo the paragraph should read as: ‘Regarding tumour growth related parameters, we observed a lower number of mice with bioluminescence signals in the whole mouse (figure 6A), as well as in the isolated livers (figure 6B), i...
