Anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects of modafinil in nonalcoholic liver disease
Biomed Pharmacother. 2021 Dec;144:112372. doi: 10.1016/j.biopha.2021.112372. Epub 2021 Oct 28.ABSTRACTSmall- and intermediate-conductance Ca2+-activated K+ channels, KCa2.3 and KCa3.1, are involved in cellular signaling processes associated with inflammation and fibrosis. KCa2.3 and KCa3.1 are upregulated by proinflammatory cytokines and profibrotic growth factors. Cyclic AMP, which downregulates KCa2.3 and KCa3.1, is elevated by modafinil in cells; accordingly, we investigated whether modafinil exerts anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic responses via KCa2.3- and KCa3.1-mediated pathways in high-fat diet (HFD)- or thioacet...

Nimbolide attenuated the inflammation in the liver of autoimmune hepatitis's mice through regulation of HDAC3
Toxicol Appl Pharmacol. 2021 Nov 12:115795. doi: 10.1016/j.taap.2021.115795. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA chronic liver disease named autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) will carry elevated levels of inflammatory cytokines, but there is currently no effective treatment to cure it. Histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3) takes an important position in regulating the expression of inflammatory genes. Nimbolide (NIB) is a limonoid extracted from the neem tree (Azadirachta indica) that has been found to be effective against many diseases, including cancer, scleroderma, and acute respiratory distress syndrome. Here, we investigated the protect...

Blocking neddylation elicits antiviral effect against hepatitis B virus replication
CONCLUSION: The manipulation of the neddylation pathway can thus provide new tools interfering with HBV persistence as well as novel therapeutic strategies against chronic hepatitis B.PMID:34716866 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-021-06886-w

Overexpressed GNAZ predicts poor outcome and promotes G0/G1 cell cycle progression in hepatocellular carcinoma
CONCLUSION: Our study demonstrated that GNAZ plays a pivotal role as a potential oncogene and predicts poor prognosis in patients with HCC. It promotes tumor proliferation via cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, migration, and invasion. Thus, GNAZ may be a potential candidate biomarker providing useful insight into hepatocarcinogenesis and aggressiveness.PMID:34530087 | DOI:10.1016/j.gene.2021.145964

Down-Regulation of HBXIP Inhibits Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Growth and Enhances the Anti-Tumor Immunity of Mice by Reducing NRP-1
CONCLUSION: Down-regulation of HBXIP reduced Lin28B-mediated NRP-1 to suppress NSCLC cell growth and enhance anti-tumor immunity.PMID:34452886
