MicroRNA-363 targets myosin 1B to reduce cellular migration in head and neck cancer
Conclusions: These findings demonstrate that the overexpression of miR-363 reduces cellular migration in head and neck cancer and reveal the biological relationship between miR-363, myosin 1b, and HPV-positive SCCHN.

Cervical cancer stem cells selectively overexpress HPV oncoprotein E6 that controls stemness and self renewal through upregulation of HES1.

WNT1, a target of miR-34a, promotes cervical squamous cell carcinoma proliferation and invasion by induction of an E-P cadherin switch via the WNT/ β-catenin pathway
ConclusionsFrom our results we conclude that WNT1, as a target of miR-34a, can promote cervical SCC cell proliferation and invasion by induction of an E-P cadherin switch via the WNT1/ β-catenin pathway. Our results may provide new options for the treatment of patients with cervical SCC.

UHRF1 silences gelsolin to inhibit cell death in early stage cervical cancer.
Abstract Persistent infection with high-risk strains of human papillomavirus (HPV) is the primary cause of cervical cancer, the fourth most common cancer among women worldwide. Two oncoproteins encoded by the HPV genome, E6 and E7, are required for epigenetic modifications that promote cervical cancer development. The degradation of Rap1GAP via E6AP-mediated ubiquitin-proteasome pathway is associated with HPV16/18-infection in cervical cancer cells

HPV-mediated regulation of SMAD4 modulates the DNA damage response in head and neck cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Our results give a clear molecular mechanism at the basis of HPV regulation of the DDR pathway. In particular, we show how HPV stabilizes SMAD4 to promote DDR protein expression, which may be used to facilitate viral replication and HNC onset. The human papillomavirus18 E7 protein inhibits CENP-C binding to α-satellite DNA.
In this study, we first found that CENP-C could bind centromere α-satellite DNAs using ChIP analysis and HA-tagged CENP-C/nuc transfected 293T cells. We then investigated if HA-CENP-C/nuc binding to α-satellite DNAs was affected by the E7 proteins of high- or low-risk HPVs. We found that transfection of the FLAG tagged HPV 18 E7 inhibited the binding of HA-CENP-C/nuc to α-satellite DNAs. This finding was confirmed in HeLa S3 cells transfected with siRNA targeted to HPV18 E7 expression.
