GSE241418 Transcriptomic and Translatomic Analyses Reveal Insights into the Signaling Pathways of the Innate Immune Response in the Spleens of SPF Chickens Infected with Avian Reovirus
This study not only provides a new perspective on the regulatory mechanisms of the innate immune response after ARV infection but also enriches the knowledge of the host defense mechanisms against ARV invasion and the outcome of ARV evasion of the host innate immune response.

siRNA targeting < em > Atp5a1 < /em > gene encoding ATPase α, the ligand of Peg fimbriae, reduced < em > Salmonella < /em > Enteritidis adhesion
In this study, we identified the ATP synthase subunit alpha (ATPase α) as a ligand of Peg fimbriae using ligand blotting and mass spectrometry techniques. We confirmed the in vitro binding of ATPase α to the purified adhesive protein (PegD). Furthermore, we used siRNA to suppress the expression of ATPase α gene Atp5a1 inLeghorn male hepatoma (LMH) cells, which resulted in a significant reduction in the adhesion rate of S. Enteritidis to the cells (P < 0.05). The findings in this study provide insight into the mechanism of S. Enteritidis infection through Peg fimbriae and highlight the importance of ATPase α in the a...

Viruses, Vol. 14, Pages 1402: Interaction of Nucleolin with the Fusion Protein of Avian Metapneumovirus Subgroup C Contributes to Viral Replication
In this study, we found that aMPV/C infection altered the subcellular localization of NCL in cultured cells. siRNA-targeted NCL resulted in a remarkable decline in aMPV/C replication in Vero cells. DF-1 cells showed a similar response after CRISPR/Cas9-mediated knock out of NCL during aMPV/C infection. Conversely, NCL overexpression significantly increased aMPV/C replication. Pretreatment with AS1411-a aptamer, a guanine (G)-rich oligonucleotide that forms four-stranded structures and competitively binding to NCL, decreased aMPV/C replication and viral titers in cultured cells. Additionally, we found that the aMPV/C fusion...

Effects of Receptor Specificity and Conformational Stability of Influenza A Virus Hemagglutinin on Infection and Activation of Different Cell Types in Human PBMCs
Humans can be infected by zoonotic avian, pandemic and seasonal influenza A viruses (IAVs), which differ by receptor specificity and conformational stability of their envelope glycoprotein hemagglutinin (HA). It was shown that receptor specificity of the HA determines the tropism of IAVs to human airway epithelial cells, the primary target of IAVs in humans. Less is known about potential effects of the HA properties on viral attachment, infection and activation of human immune cells. To address this question, we studied the infection of total human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and subpopulations of human PBMC...

The association of ribosomal protein L18 with Newcastle disease virus matrix protein enhances viral translation and replication
In this study, we found that the expression and transcription levels of RPL18 was reduced early in NDV infection but increased later in NDV infection. In addition, the presence of cytoplasmic NDV matrix (M) protein was responsible for the increased expression of RPL18 in both virus-infected cells and plasmid-transfected cells. Moreover, cytoplasmic M protein increased RPL18 expression in a dose-dependent manner, even though they did not interact with each other. Furthermore, siRNA-mediated knockdown of RPL18 or overexpression of RPL18 dramatically reduced or enhanced NDV replication by decreasing or increasing viral protei...
