Personalized Biomarker-Based Umbrella Trial for Patients With Recurrent or Metastatic Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma: KCSG HN 15-16 TRIUMPH Trial
CONCLUSION: To our knowledge, this study is the first biomarker-driven umbrella trial for platinum-refractory HNSCC using matched molecular targeted agents. We found that NGS-based genomic phenotyping was methodologically feasible and applicable.PMID:37699162 | DOI:10.1200/JCO.22.02786

Bioinformatics analysis of CUL2/4A/9 and its function in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma
CONCLUSION: These results suggest that the transcriptional levels of CUL2/4A/9 were upregulated and these genes could affect proliferation and migration of HNSCC cells. Therefore, CUL2/4A/9 could potentially function as novel independent biomarkers in HNSCC patients.PMID:37695034 | DOI:10.5603/EP.a2023.0029

Identification of molecular biomarkers associated with non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) using whole-exome sequencing
CONCLUSIONS: Our bioinformatics analysis identified KCNJ18, GPRIN2, TEKT4, HRNR, FOLR3, ESSRA, CTBP2, MPRIP, TBP, and FBXO6 may contribute to progression in NSCLC and could be used as new biomarkers for the treatment. The mechanism by which GPRIN2, KCNJ12, and TEKT4 contribute to tumorigenesis is unclear, but our results suggest they may play an important role in NSCLC and it is worth investigating in future.PMID:37694353 | DOI:10.3233/CBM-220211

Systematic evaluation of TP53 codon 72 polymorphism associated with onset and progression of oral potentially malignant disorders
CONCLUSION: Our data of a pooled-analysis indicates that TP53 codon 72 polymorphism may not act as genetic factor for the risk of OPMD onset and progression. Combined with the conclusion by a systematic review and meta-analysis, we put forward a new opinion that TP53 genetic typing cloud not influence p53 protein expression in OPMD.PMID:37697274 | DOI:10.1186/s12903-023-03316-0

Ribosomal RNA gene downregulation in head and neck squamous carcinoma cells correlates with rDNA promoter hypermethylation
Gene. 2023 Sep 9:147793. doi: 10.1016/j.gene.2023.147793. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEukaryotes carry hundreds of ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes as tandem arrays, which generate rRNA for protein synthesis. Humans carry ∼ 400 rRNA gene copies and their expression is epigenetically regulated. Dysregulation of rRNA synthesis and ribosome biogenesis are characteristic features of cancers. Targeting aberrant rRNA expression for cancer therapy is being explored. Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is among the most prevalent cancers globally. Using quantitative PCR and bisulfite sequencing, we show that rRNA genes are...
