Cardiac Tamponade Secondary to Hemorrhagic Pericardial Effusion: A Complication of STEMI
Conclusion: The differential for hemodynamic compromise in a patient with STEMI is broad, but quickly distinguishing pump failure from other life-threatening causes of shock is imperative to dictate time-sensitive management decisions. The presence of a hemorrhagic pericardial effusion in the setting of STEMI is a surrogate marker for a severe infarct and can help the bedside physician determine whether a patient will be better served in the catheterization lab for revascularization or in the operating room for surgical repair.PMID:37711482 | PMC:PMC10498953 | DOI:10.31486/toj.23.0023

Preliminary PET imaging of 11Cevobrutinib in mouse models of colorectal cancer, SARS ‐CoV‐2, and lung damage: Radiosynthesis via base‐aided palladium‐NiXantphos‐mediated 11C‐carbonylation
In conclusion, [11C]evobrutinib was successfully synthesized by11C-carbonylation and based on our preliminary studies does not appear to be a promising BTK-targeted PET radiotracer in the rodent disease models studied herein.

Prenatal transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, resulting in neonatal severe acute pneumonia, from an asymptomatic mother: a case report
ConclusionThis case report demonstrates the incompatibility between maternal asymptomatic coronavirus disease 2019 and severe neonatal lung involvement. We emphasize the need for vigilance to avoid missing the most severe forms of neonatal coronavirus disease 2019.

Budd-Chiari Syndrome following COVID-19 infection: a case report
CONCLUSION: Hepatosplenomegaly and abdominal distention after COVID-19 infection raise suspicion for BCS. Therefore, early detection of these signs is essential for immediate management.PMID:37663747 | PMC:PMC10473364 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000001078

Abdominal Imaging Findings in Laboratory-Confirmed COVID-19 Patients: A Retrospective Observational Study
CONCLUSION: To our knowledge, the research conducted on the abdominal manifestations of COVID-19 is still limited, especially in our region. Our study showed that there are variable presentations of abdominal organ involvement in COVID-19 cases, and as such more data is required to direct choice of imaging study, protocol, and interpretation of findings to better guide patient management.PMID:37649952 | PMC:PMC10463944 | DOI:10.7759/cureus.42677

Coronavirus disease 2019 and malaria coinfection in a middle-aged Ethiopian woman presenting with acute febrile illness and bilateral pleural effusion: a case report
ConclusionClinicians should be aware of the possibility of coronavirus disease 2019 and malaria coinfection in any patient who is from malaria-endemic area and presenting with acute febrile illness symptoms such as fever and headache and respiratory complaints like shortness of breath and cough. Alhough viral etiologies such as coronavirus disease 2019 are rare causes of bilateral pleural effusion, they should be considered after ruling out other common causes.

Could ischemia-modified albumin levels predict the severity of disease in SARS-CoV-2 infection?
Conclusions: We analyzed a sample of patients with COVID-19 infection and found that IMA predicted severe COVID-19 disease. Disease severity grouping was based on patients ' clinical and radiological features. IMA level measured when SARS-CoV-2 infection is diagnosed may be a useful marker in predicting likely disease severity or intensive care need.
