Conjunctivodacryocystorhinostomy (CDCR) success rates and complications in endoscopic vs non ‐endoscopic approaches: a systematic review
ConclusionBased on the data available in the literature, CDCR is considered an effective procedure for treating epiphora due to proximal obstruction. Controlled and qualitative studies are needed to clarify the significance of the endoscope's contribution to CDCR.

Topical tretinoin in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps: a randomized clinical trial
ConclusionTransnasal tretinoin associated with budesonide was safe and well tolerated, and it should be investigated as a treatment option for some CRSwNP endotypes. ©2021 ARSAAOA, LLC.

Patients and experiences from the first Danish flavour clinic.
CONCLUSIONS: An accurate distinction between smell and taste requires application of validated chemosensory tests and specialised knowledge. As this is not readily available in all ENT clinics, sensory loss without a clear aetiology should be referred to a more specialisedcentre. FUNDING: none. TRIAL REGISTRATION: not relevant. Development of an Antigen-Specific T Cell Assay to Identify Food Triggers in Eosinophilic Esophagitis
Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic, T cell mediated disease that is triggered by specific foods and results in odynophagia and progressive esophageal dysfunction. Due to the absence of food-specific IgE antibodies in some EoE patients, skin prick testing is not reliably helpful when attempting to identify EoE-causal foods. As such, the current standard of care involves empiric food elimination diets or swallowed steroids with repeated endoscopies. There is significant need for a quick, non-invasive laboratory test which can accurately predict tolerated and trigger foods in EoE patients.

Association of a standardized measure of nasopharyngeal inflammation with Eustachian tube dysfunction questionnaire score
ConclusionInflammatory findings at the nasopharyngeal ET orifice are associated with clinically significant ETD symptoms. The 3ET score is specific for a symptomatic state and has potential clinical utility in the evaluation of suspected ETD. ©2021 ARSAAOA, LLC.

The Use of Postoperative Antibiotics Following Endoscopic Sinus Surgery for Chronic Rhinosinusitis: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
CONCLUSIONS: From the studies analysed, there is no level 1 evidence to suggest that antibiotics improved patient outcomes following sinus surgery. However, there was significant heterogeneity in outcome measures and no clear data exists regarding the effects of antibiotics on postoperative infections. The available evidence at present is not enough to make a recommendation in either direction. Further designed larger RCTs are required to investigate these questions in more detail. An internally validated diagnostic tool for acute invasive fungal sinusitis
ConclusionWe present an internally validated diagnostic tool to stratify the risk for AIFS. The estimated risk may help determine which patients can be observed with serial nasal endoscopy, which ones could be biopsied, and which ones would benefit from immediate surgical intervention.

Mucosal Eosinophilia and Neutrophilia Are Not Associated With QOL or Olfactory Function in Chronic Rhinosinusitis.
CONCLUSION: Neither the presence of mucosal eosinophilia nor mucosal neutrophilia demonstrated significant associations with SNOT-22 quality-of-life or BSIT olfactory function scores when controlling for comorbid nasal polyposis. PMID: 33430615 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Eosinophilic colitis in children: a new and elusive enemy?
ConclusionThis study focus attention on EC as a new challenging pathology. Multicentric randomized clinical trials are needed to understand physiopathological mechanisms to validate a possible endoscopic score and related histological threshold, and to standardize therapy according to clinical features and instrumental findings. The high prevalence of EC in ASD need further specific research.

Prolonged Undiagnosed Nasal Foreign Body Case Report
AbstractThe case report presented is a 22-year-old female with an undiagnosed nasal foreign body (NFB) in her right nasal cavity for 18  years. Previous physical examination and anterior rhinoscopy by other health care specialists failed to detect the NFB. She was treated conservatively by many ENT specialists as sinusitis with antibiotics therapy and anti-allergy drugs for many years with no improvement. Due to persistent sinus sy mptoms unrelieved by conservative treatment further investigation with a paranasal sinus computed tomography (CT) scan was completed that identified the NFB. The NFB was successfully removed su...

Characterisation of patients with idiopathic olfactory dysfunction and plan for clinical follow-up.
CONCLUSIONS: Patients suffering from idiopathic OD were predominantly females with a long symptom duration. Only few of these patients suffered from allergies or sino-nasal pathologies. Patient history, the Sino-Nasal Outcome Test and threshold discrimination identification scores from the Extended Sniffin Sticks test are the most valuable clinical tools for diagnosing the aetiology behind OD. An ideal workup for idiopathic OD is presented. FUNDING: none. TRIAL REGISTRATION: not relevant. PMID: 33215598 [PubMed - in process]
