This study aims to survey the microbiome and its potential for biodeterioration on unpreserved Lan Na mural paintings in Sean Khan temple, Chiang Mai, Thailand. The overview of the archaeal, bacterial, and fungal communities was reported by Illumina sequencing, whereas the potential for deterioration was revealed by culturable techniques and a literature search. The abundant microbes reported in this study were also found in other ancient mural paintings worldwide. Rapid degradation and detoxification of metronidazole using calcium sulfite activated by CoCu two-dimensional layered bimetallic hydroxides: Performance, mechanism, and degradation pathway
In this study, cobalt copper-layered double hydroxides (CoCu-LDHs) were prepared by coprecipitation as catalysts to activate CaSO3 for metronidazole (MNZ) degradation. This is the first report on layered double hydroxides activating sulfite for the degradation of organic pollutants. Meanwhile, to address the issue of self-quenching reactions readily occurring in conventional sulfite advanced oxidation systems and resulting in low oxidant efficiency, CaSO3 with slightly soluble in water was used instead of commonly used Na2SO3, to improve the limitations of traditional systems. Palladium-based multifunctional nanoparticles for combined chemodynamic/photothermal and calcium overload therapy of tumors
In this study, calcium carbonate-modified palladium hydride nanoparticles (PdH@CaCO3) were prepared and utilized for the combined treatment of tumors through chemodynamic therapy (CDT)/photothermal therapy (PTT) and calcium overload therapy. After entering tumor cells, PdH@CaCO3 releases calcium ions (Ca2+) and PdH once it reaches the TME due to the pH reactivity of the calcium carbonate coating. The mitochondrial membrane potential is lowered by the Ca2+, leading to irreversible cell damage. Carboxymethyl chitosan/polyvinyl alcohol double network hydrogels prepared by freeze-thawing and calcium chloride cross-linking for efficient dye adsorption
