Clinical Value Analysis of Serum TK1, SCC-Ag, and MUC-1 in the Diagnosis and Prognosis Evaluation of Cervical Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Serum levels of TK1, SCC-Ag, and MUC-1 show promise as biomarkers for cervical cancer diagnosis and prognosis. TK1 and SCC-Ag are elevated, while MUC-1 is decreased in cervical cancer patients. Further research is warranted to confirm these findings and explore additional biomarkers.PMID:37708549

Neoadjuvant triplet chemotherapy with docetaxel, cisplatin plus 5-FU vs docetaxel, cisplatin plus S-1 for advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: Propensity score matched analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Neoadjuvant DCS therapy for resectable advanced ESCC did not result in significantly higher clinical and pathological response than neoadjuvant DCF therapy. However, neoadjuvant DCS therapy for resectable ESCC required comparatively shorter hospital stays and incurred lower costs, making it an attractive therapeutic option.PMID:37708864 | DOI:10.1159/000533790

Risk factors for metachronous esophageal squamous cell carcinoma after endoscopic or surgical resection of esophageal carcinoma: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusiontimely investigating the age of patients, previous history of cancer and monitoring the number of LVLs in the first 5 years after operation are of great significance to identify high-risk populations of MESCC for timely medical care. Education and behavior correction about smoking are advocated. Tumor markers should be regularly detected in the head and neck, esophagus, and stomach. Endoscopic resection was associated with a higher incidence of MESCC, which provided a reference for doctors to choose the removal method.Systematic review registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO/, identifier CRD42022377030.

Diagnostic accuracy of sentinel lymph node frozen section analysis in patients with early-stage cervical cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: SLN frozen section detects 65% of lymph node metastases compared with SLN ultrastaging and may prevent unnecessary radical surgery in some patients with early-stage cervical cancer.PMID:37703622 | DOI:10.1016/j.ygyno.2023.08.019

OCT4's role and mechanism underlying oral squamous cell carcinoma
J Zhejiang Univ Sci B. 2023 Sept 15;24(9):796-806. doi: 10.1631/jzus.B2200602.ABSTRACTOral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), a common malignancy of the head and neck, ranks sixth worldwide in terms of cancers with the most negative impact, owing to tumor relapse rates, cervical lymphnode metastasis, and the lack of an efficacious systemic therapy. Its prognosis is poor, and its mortality rate is high. Octamer-binding transcription factor 4 (OCT4) is a member of the Pit-Oct-Unc (POU) family and is a key reprogramming factor that produces a marked effect in preserving the pluripotency and self-renewal state of embryonic stem c...

A fluorescence biosensor for tyrosinase activity analysis based on silicon-doped carbon quantum dots
Chem Pharm Bull (Tokyo). 2023 Sep 14. doi: 10.1248/cpb.c23-00410. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTyrosinase (TYR) plays a pivotal role in the biosynthesis of melanin, and its activity level holds critical implications for vitiligo, melanoma cancer, and food nutritional value. The sensitive determination of TYR activity is of great significance for both fundamental research and clinical investigations. In this work, we successfully synthesized silicon-doped carbon quantum dots (Si-CQDs) through a one-pot hydrothermal method with trans-aconitic acid as carbon source and N-[3-(Trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ethylenediamine as the dopa...

Risk factors for the occurrence of infection in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma after restorative reconstruction and its impact on recurrence and quality of life: a retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of postoperative infection after restorative and reconstructive surgery for OSCC deserves the attention of clinicians. For high-risk infected persons, relevant anti-infection measures should be taken early against the infectious source, and the possibility of nosocomial infection should be attached great importance in clinical work. After discharge, patients should also actively do follow-up, education and other related work to reduce the incidence of postoperative infection.PMID:37701120 | PMC:PMC10493792 | DOI:10.21037/tcr-23-1150
