Fibrinogen-like protein 2 regulates macrophage glycolytic reprogramming by directly targeting PKM2 and exacerbates alcoholic liver injury
CONCLUSIONS: Taken together, Fgl2 hastens the development of alcoholic liver injury by mediating PKM2 dependent aerobic glycolysis in proinflammatory macrophages. Linc00657 promoted pyroptosis in THP-1-derived macrophages and exacerbated atherosclerosis via the miR-106b-5p/TXNIP/NLRP3 axis
This study was designed to investigate the effects and underlying mechanisms of linc00657 in atherogenesis. The results showed that ox-LDL treatment significantly induced pyroptosis in human THP-1-derived macrophages. The secretion levels of LDH and pro-inflammatory factors were markedly enhanced, and the integrity of plasma membranes was disrupted in ox-LDL-treated THP-1-derived macrophages. Par3L, a polarity protein, promotes M1 macrophage polarization and aggravates atherosclerosis in mice via p65 and ERK activation
In this study, we investigated the roles of the polar protein Par3L in M1 macrophage polarization and atherosclerosis. To induce atherosclerosis, Apoe-/- mice were fed with an atherosclerotic Western diet for 8 or 16 weeks. We showed that Par3L expression was significantly increased in human and mouse atherosclerotic plaques. Inhibition of xanthine oxidase-catalyzed xanthine and 6-mercaptopurine oxidation by luteolin, naringenin, myricetin, ampelopsin and their conjugated metabolites
In this study, we examined the impacts of luteolin, naringenin, myricetin, ampelopsin, and their sulfate/glucuronide derivatives on XO-catalyzed xanthine and 6-mercaptopurine oxidations employing in vitro enzyme incubation assays and molecular modeling studies. Our major results/conclusions are the following: (1) Sulfate metabolites were stronger while glucuronic acid derivatives were weaker inhibitors of XO compared to the parent flavonoids. Relationships of pregnancy and postpartum diet quality with offspring birth weight and weight status through 12  months
CONCLUSIONS: Maternal diet quality during pregnancy (and during postpartum in mothers who breastfed for a longer duration) was inversely related to LGA and weight status indicators from birth through 12 months. Weight-independent effects of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery on remission of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in mice

Functional feeding groups of Chironomidae (Diptera: Nematocera) and their spatial variation in an intermittent hill stream (Ventana Stream, Buenos Aires, Argentina)
In this study, we analyzed the gut contents of this insect family with an aim at establishing their diet in an intermittent stream in the Ventania-Hill system. We sampled three sites with different habitat characteristics (i. e., altitude, substrate type, and current velocity).
