The Efficacy of a Comprehensive Reminder System to Improve Health Behaviors and Blood Pressure Control in Hypertensive Ischemic Stroke Patients: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Conclusion: At 3 months, use of the Comprehensive Reminder System based on the Health Belief Model, yielded improvement in most health behaviors and blood pressure control in hypertensive ischemic stroke patients. Continued implementation of this intervention protocol is warranted to determine the long-term effect. Smoking and alcohol use behaviors need to be targeted with a different intervention.

Association between hysterectomy status and stroke risk and cause-specific and all-cause mortality: evidence from the 2005 –2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey
ConclusionOur study found a significant association between hysterectomy and stroke, even after adjusting for other factors that could impact risk, such as the American Heart Association (AHA)'s Life's Simple 7 cardiovascular health score and variables of age, ethnicity, marital status, income, education, and depression severity.

P42 Age and Education are Associated with Fried Fish Consumption in the Stroke Belt
Fish contain polyunsaturated fatty acids which are associated with decreased cardiovascular (CVD) risk. However, frying fish alters the fatty acids. Consumption of fried fish has been linked to increased risk of CVD and stroke, particularly in populations in the South's Stroke Belt. The purpose of this study was to explore characteristics associated with fried vs. non-fried fish consumption in the rural Appalachian region of the Stroke Belt.

The prevalence of stroke according to indoor radon concentration in South Koreans: Nationwide cross section study

Demographic characteristics and medical history of participants were obtained from Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) from 2007 to 2012. Participants over 40 years old and who completed the questionnaire were included in the study. Race, Socioeconomic Status, and Gastrostomy after Spontaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhage
Introduction: Spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage is a disabling form of stroke, and some patients will require nutritional interventions for dysphagia. We sought to determine if socioeconomic status indicators mediate whether minorities undergo gastrostomy tube placement. Materials and Methods: Patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage were enrolled in a single center, observational cohort study from 2010 to 2017. A socioeconomic index score was imputed using neighborhood characteristics by patients ’ ZIP code, according to an established method utilizing 6 indicators of wealth/income, education, and occupation.

The Association of Arsenic Metabolism with Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease, and Diabetes: A Systematic Review of the Epidemiological Evidence
Conclusions: Population level of iAs% and DMA%, but not MMA%, were associated with arsenic exposure levels. Overall, study findings suggest that higher MMA% was associated with an increased risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease, while lower MMA% was associated with an increased risk of diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Rehabilitation professionals are trained to assist patients to recover and cope with functional limitations after a stroke. However, there are limited resources and medical education geared toward preparing rehabilitation professionals to integrate nutritional care into stroke care. Experts suggest that all rehabilitation professionals should be trained in evidence-based nutritional approaches for patients after a stroke.1,2 The purpose of this document is to educate rehabilitation professionals on best nutritional practices poststroke.
