Association of Intensive Morphine Treatment and Increased Stroke Incidence in Prostate Cancer Patients: A Population-based Nested Case-Control Study
Conclusions Intense morphine treatment may be associated with an increased stroke incidence in patients with malignancy, and the association is particularly significant for prostate cancer patients.

Opioids in Post-stroke Pain: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Conclusions: The limited number of the included studies and their heterogeneity in terms of study design do not support the efficacy of opioids in post-stroke pain and in pain-related outcomes. Large double-blind randomized clinical trials with objective assessment of pain and related symptoms are needed to further investigate this topic.

S1-1. Spinal cord stimulation for post-stroke pain
Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) is used to treat for several types of intractable pain syndromes, but it is not commonly used for treating post-stroke pain. Therefore, in this study, we analyzed the effects of SCS in patients with post-stroke pain. Neurological imaging and pharmacological analysis using thiopental, ketamine and morphine tests were conducted for 30 patients with post-stroke pain. For all patients, percutaneous electrodes were inserted under local anesthesia, and trial stimulation was performed for 5–7days. The safety of morphine use in acute coronary syndrome: a meta-analysis
Conclusion The use of morphine for pain control in ACS was associated with an increased risk of in-hospital recurrent MI. Randomised clinical trials are needed to further investigate the safety of morphine in ACS.

Risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus in female breast cancer patients treated with morphine: a retrospective population-based time-dependent cohort study
A key element of the palliative care of cancer patients is the management of chronic pain [1]. Opioids continue to be a mainstay in the management of cancer pain in all treatment guidelines [2], and morphine is regarded as the “gold standard” [3–6]. Considered as broad-spectrum analgesics, opioids have multiple side effects and potential complications [7]. Our previous studies indicated that morphine treatment is associated with subdural hemorrhage [8], pulmonary embolism [9], and acute coronary syndrome [10] in cancer patients, as well as increased stroke incidence in prostate cancer patients [11].
