The Risk of Falling and Consequences of Falling in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation Receiving Different Types of Anticoagulant
ConclusionOlder patients who had comorbidities and were taking amiodarone, diuretics, or short- or medium-acting benzodiazepines had the highest risk of falls. The type and quality of anticoagulation did not seem to affect the risk of falling but did significantly affect survival after the first fall.

Comparison of the Efficacy and Safety Outcomes of Edoxaban in 8040 Women Versus 13 065 Men With Atrial Fibrillation in the ENGAGE AF-TIMI 48 Trial.
CONCLUSIONS: Despite many differences in baseline characteristics between women and men and higher baseline endogenous factor Xa levels in women, the intensity of anticoagulation achieved with edoxaban between the sexes was similar. Treatment with higher-dose edoxaban regimen resulted in an even greater reduction in hemorrhagic stroke and several serious bleeding outcomes in women than in men, whereas the efficacy profile was similar between sexes. Gastrointestinal Bleeding Associated With Warfarin and Rivaroxaban Therapy in Atrial Fibrillation Cases with Concomitant Coagulopathy.
CONCLUSION: The incidence of GI bleeding was lower in AF patients who received rivaroxaban compared to those treated with warfarin. Also, GI bleeding risk does not change according to the consumption of other anti-coagulant drugs and un-derlying history of hypertension or stroke in patients received rivaroxaban. Risk factors for severe bleeding events during warfarin treatment: the influence of sex, age, comorbidity and co-medication
ConclusionMost of the well-established risk factors were found to be significantly associated with bleeding events in our study. We additionally found that women had a lower incidence of bleeding. Potential biases are selection effects, residual confounding and unmeasured frailty.

ConclusionsGastrointestinal bleeding increased the risk of subsequent mortality during follow‐up of anticoagulated patients, highlighting the importance of prevention. The study developed a new scoring model for acute GI bleeding risk based on five factors (no‐proton pump inhibitor use, chronic kidney disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, history of peptic ulcer disease, and liver cirrhosis), which was superior to the HAS‐BLED score.

Predicting Major Bleeding in Ischemic Stroke Patients With Atrial Fibrillation Brief Report
Conclusions—Performance of prediction models for major bleeding in patients with cerebral ischemia and atrial fibrillation is modest but comparable with performance in patients with only atrial fibrillation. Bleeding risk scores cannot guide treatment decisions for oral anticoagulants but may still be useful to identify modifiable risk factors for bleeding. Clinical usefulness may be best for ORBIT, which is based on a limited number of easily obtainable variables and showed reasonable performance.
