Long-Term Exposure to Ambient Fine Particulate Matter and Renal Function in Older Men: The Veterans Administration Normative Aging Study
Conclusions: In this longitudinal sample of older men, the findings supported the hypothesis that long-term PM2.5 exposure negatively affects renal function and increases renal function decline.

Reverse Right Ventricular Remodeling After Lung Transplantation in Patients With Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Under Combination Therapy of Targeted Medical Drugs.
CONCLUSIONS: Although severe RV dysfunction and dilation were observed in patients with end-stage PAH despite combination therapy of PAH-targeted drugs, RV function and morphology were improved after reduction of RV pressure load by LTx.

Prognostic value of hemodynamics following treatment initiation in pulmonary arterial hypertension
Conclusions: Stroke volume index and right atrial pressure at first follow-up catheterization were the best hemodynamic predictors of death or transplantation. These variables should be further validated as treatment targets in a prospective study.

The patient mentioned he had had episodes of bright red rectal bleeding and constipation for a few months. A colonoscopy had been done prior to the visit, which revealed a large intestine tumor and biopsy confirming adenocarcinoma. Invasive Hemodynamics and Rejection Rates in Patients With Cardiac Sarcoidosis After Heart Transplantation
ConclusionsPatients with CS have similar post-transplant hemodynamics as patients without CS, without evidence of right ventricular dysfunction or pulmonary hypertension. Neither significant rejection nor recurrence of sarcoid in the allograft was observed in this cohort of patients with CS. Survival is similar between patients with CS and those without CS. Prospective Study of Apixaban for Primary Prevention of Venous Thromboembolism in Patients with Multiple Myeloma Receiving Immunomodulatory Therapy
ConclusionsIn this pilot study of 50 patients, low-dose apixaban was safe and well tolerated as thromboprophylaxis for patients with MM receiving IMiDs. No patients experienced VTE, major hemorrhage, stroke, or MI. Description of the First Cases with ADAMTS13 Mutations in Hungary
CONCLUSIONS:Clinical and molecular characterization of the first 5 Hungarian cases with ADAMTS13 mutations was presented. Compound heterozygous, damaging ADAMTS13 mutations with deficient plasma ADAMTS13 activity were associated with serious clinical consequences. In case of thrombotic microangiopathy in young patients with stroke, or HELLP syndrome, complete workup for ADAMTS13 activity and inhibitors is necessary, and genetic analysis should be considered. Prolargin and matrix metalloproteinase ‐2 in heart failure after heart transplantation and their association with haemodynamics
ConclusionsThe normalization pattern in HF patients of plasma prolargin and MMP ‐2 post‐HT towards controls' levels and their associations with improved haemodynamics indicate that prolargin and MMP‐2 may reflect, in part, the aberrant ECM remodelling involved in the pathophysiology of HF and associated PH. Their potential clinical use as biomarkers or targets for future therapy in HF and related PH remains to be investigated.

Association of Serum Uromodulin with Death, Cardiovascular Events, and Kidney Failure in CKD.
CONCLUSIONS: Higher serum uromodulin is independently associated with lower risk for mortality, cardiovascular events, and kidney failure in white patients with CKD.

Clinical characteristics, triggering etiologies, and response of plasmapheresis in thrombotic microangiopathy in Taiwan
This study indicated the spectrum of underlying causes, extra-renal characteristics, and the response to plasmapheresis of patients with TMA in Taiwan. Of note, the poor clinical outcomes of plasmapheresis in patients with TMA might highlight the masked underlying etiology or worse disease condition that should be noticed.

Elevated plasma WIF ‐1 levels are associated with worse prognosis in heart failure with pulmonary hypertension
ConclusionsThe present study demonstrated that LHF-PH patients have higher plasma WIF-1 levels than healthy controls, suggesting that plasma WIF-1 may be a potential future prognostic biomarker in LHF-PH. Its prognostic capability could be further refined by including it in a multi-marker panel. Further studies are needed to establish the potential role of WIF-1 in LHF-PH pathophysiology in larger cohorts to determine its clinical applicability.
