Risk factors for intracerebral hemorrhage in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis
ConclusionHigher systolic BP and abnormal iPTH metabolism might be associated with ICH in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Comprehensive control of hypertension and iPTH may be a fundamental preventive strategy for ICH in these patients.

Influence of chronic kidney disease and haemodialysis on stroke outcome
CONCLUSION: Despite significant functional and neurological improvements following rehabilitation, stroke patients with underlying CKD had higher average duration of hospital stay, more recurrent hospitalisations and poorer survival outcomes than those without underlying CKD. This could be attributed to the complications associated with CKD rather than stroke. Multidisciplinary community rehabilitation may be an alternative to reduce recurrent hospitalisations and morbidity in this group of patients. PMID: 32241068 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Atrial fibrillation and associated outcomes in patients with peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis: a 14-year nationwide population-based study.
CONCLUSION: In patients with ESRD undergoing dialysis, PD had lowered risks of new onset of AF compared to HD. Subsequently, these AF patients in PD group had comparable incidence of ischemic stroke but decreased incidence of hemorrhagic stroke compared to AF patients in HD group. Cardiac complications in children with chronic renal: Prevalence of risk factors
ConclusionCardiovascular complications are almost constant in hemodialysis children with chronic renal failure strongly related with left ventricular hypertrophy and arterial hypertension. The high risk of mortality related to these cardiac complications makes it essential to have good control of arterial blood pressure and especially a good observance of treatment and regimen in hemodialysis children.

Comparison of risk of stroke in patients treated with peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Conclusions: We observed that PD patients were less likely to develop hemorrhagic stroke than HD patients, and the risk for ischemic stroke was significantly higher for PD patients than for HD patients among the non-Asian patients. Vitamin K antagonists for stroke prevention in hemodialysis patients with atrial fibrillation: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusion Our meta-analysis revealed a trend for a reduction of the risk of ischemic stroke in hemodialysis patients with AF treated with VKA. The true protective effect may have been underestimated, owing to inclusion of low-risk patients not expected to benefit from anticoagulation and to suboptimal anticoagulation. However, assessment of the overall effect of VKA in hemodialysis patients should also take into account the increased risk of bleeding, in particular of hemorrhagic stroke. Whether new oral anticoagulants provide a better benefit–risk ratio in hemodialysis patients should be the subject of future trials.

Association Between Serum Phosphate Levels and Stroke Risk in Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis: The Q-Cohort Study Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Higher serum phosphate levels were associated with an increased risk of brain hemorrhage, whereas low levels were associated with an increased risk of brain infarction in hemodialysis patients.
