Atrial Transcriptional Profiles of Molecular Targets Mediating Electrophysiological Function in Aging and Pgc-1 β Deficient Murine Hearts
Conclusion: These findings limit the possible roles of gene transcriptional changes in previously reported age-dependent pro-arrhythmic electrophysiologial changes observed in Pgc-1β-/- atria to an altered Ca2+-ATPase (Atp2a2) expression. This directly parallels previously reported arrhythmic mechanism associated with p21-activated kinase type 1 deficiency. This could add to contributions from the direct physiological outcomes of mitochondrial dysfunction, whether through reactive oxygen species (ROS) production or altered Ca2+ homeostasis. Introduction Atrial arrhythmias constitute a major public health pro...

Does the AQHI reduce cardiovascular hospitalization in Hong Kong's elderly population?
CONCLUSION: Hong Kong's AQHI helped reduced hospital admissions in the elderly for HPD and AMI but had no effect on overall emergency hospitalization for CVD. To maximize health benefits of the policy, at risk groups need to be able to follow the behavioral changes recommended by the AQHI warnings. PMID: 31801101 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Correlation among high salt intake, blood pressure variability, and target organ damage in patients with essential hypertension: Study protocol clinical trial (SPIRIT compliant)
This study is a cross-sectional study. It will recruit 600 patients with essential hypertension in the outpatient and inpatient department of cardiovascular medicine of Chengdu Fifth People's Hospital. Researchers will obtain blood and urine samples with the patient's informed consent. In addition, we will measure patient's blood pressure and target organ-related information. Trial registry: The study protocol was approved by the Chengdu Fifth People's Hospital. Written informed consent will be obtained from all the participants. The trial was registered in the Chinese Clinical trial registry, ChiCTR2000029243. This tri...

A novel nomogram to predict all ‐cause readmission or death risk in Chinese elderly patients with heart failure
ConclusionsWe developed accurate and easy ‐to‐use nomograms to predict all‐cause readmission or death in Chinese elderly patients with HF. The nomograms will assist in reducing the all‐cause readmission and mortality rates.

Ethnic differences in atrial fibrillation among patients with heart failure in Asia
ConclusionsAmong patients with HF across Asia, clinical correlates and adverse outcomes associated with AF are similar across ethnicities; however, there are striking ethnic variations in the prevalence of AF that are not accounted for by known risk factors.

Can Clinical and Functional Outcomes Be Improved with an Intelligent “Internet Plus”-Based Full Disease Cycle Remote Ischemic Conditioning Program in Acute ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention? Rationale and Design of the i-RIC Trial
DiscussionThe i-RIC trial is designed to test the hypothesis that clinical and functional outcomes can be improved with the i-RIC program in STEMI patients undergoing PCI. The concept of RIC is expected to be enhanced with this intelligent “Internet Plus”-based program focusing on the full disease cycle. If the i-RIC program results in superior improvement in primary and secondary outcomes, it will offer an innovative treatment option for STEMI patients and form the basis of future recommendations.Clinical Trial RegistrationChinese Clinical Trial Registry (http://www.chictr.org.cn): ChiCTR2000031550, 04 April 2020.

A novel nonsense mutation in TNNT2 in a Chinese pedigree with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: A case report
Rationale: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is an inherited myocardial disease and a common cause of sudden cardiac death, heart failure, atrial fibrillation and stroke. In families affected by HCM, genotyping is useful for identifying susceptible relatives. In the present study, we investigated the disease-causing mutations in a three-generation Chinese family with HCM using whole exome sequencing (WES). Patient concerns: The proband, a 50-year-old man, was diagnosed with HCM at the age of 41 years. He presented with an asymmetric hypertrophic interventricular septum and a maximum interventricular septum thickness o...
