Assessment of cetuximab-induced infusion reactions and administration rechallenge at an academic medical center
AbstractCetuximab is approved for treatment of squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN). Cetuximab is generally well tolerated, but does carry a black box warning for infusion reactions (IRs). Incidence of IR in clinical trials was 15 –20% for all grades and 3–5% for grades III–IV. Retrospective studies reported a higher incidence of all grade IRs and grades III–IV IR in areas of the Southeastern United States. Information regarding rechallenge doses after an IR has not been well described. At our institution, we frequent ly rechallenge on the same day after an initial IR. The primary objective was to d...

Chasing Zero Harm in Radiation Oncology: Using Pre-treatment Peer Review
Conclusions: Catching errors prior to treatment is the only way to “chase zero” in radiation oncology. Various types of errors may exist in treatment plans and our GCPR model succeeds in preventing many errors of all shapes and sizes in target definition, dose prescriptions, and treatment plans from ever reaching the patients. Background and Introduction Since the release of the seminal report from the Institute of Medicine (IOM) titled, “To Err is Human,” in 1999, the importance of patient safety and avoiding medical errors have been recognized and endorsed by the physician communit...

Association Between Cancer Incidence and Mortality in Web-Based Data in China: Infodemiology Study
Conclusions: Search behaviors indeed reflect public awareness of cancer from a different angle. Research on internet search behaviors could present an innovative and timely way to monitor and estimate cancer incidence and mortality rates, especially for cancers not included in national registries.

Current status of lung cancer in Spain: a retrospective analysis of patient characteristics, use of healthcare resources and in-hospital mortality.
Conclusions: Preventive and early detection measures are recommended, continuing to focus on females. In parallel, a multidisciplinary approach could optimise patient journey considering the presence of disease comorbidities, although its role in lung cancer mortality should be further explored. Glycolytic pathway candidate markers in the prognosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma: a systematic review with meta-analysis.
Authors: Mattos SEC, Diel LF, Bittencourt LS, Schnorr CE, Gonçalves FA, Bernardi L, Lamers ML Abstract Molecular changes that affect mitochondrial glycolysis have been associated with the maintenance of tumor cells. Some metabolic factors have already been described as predictors of disease severity and outcomes. This systematic review was conducted to answer the question: Is the glycolytic pathway correlated with the prognosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC)? A search strategy was developed to retrieve studies in English from PubMed, Scopus, and ISI Web of Science using keywords related to squamous cell ca...

Expression of p16 < sup > INK4a < /sup > in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma from a tertiary cancer centre of South India: A preliminary study
CONCLUSIONS: The p16 positive OPSCC cases constituted a small proportion in the present study and behaved similar to p16 negative cases. Usage of tobacco and alcohol appear to be the susceptible factors even in p16 positive cases. More studies from other States would be helpful to determine if HPV-related SCC in the Indian subcontinent behave differently or similarly to cases from Western countries.PMID:35345076 | DOI:10.4103/ijmr.IJMR_386_19
