Conclusions: The prevalence of prior cancer is higher in ISP than in the general population. ISPs with prior cancer are more prone to cardioembolism.

Associations between hematopoietic growth factors and risks of venous thromboembolism, stroke, ischemic heart disease and myelodysplastic syndrome: findings from a large population-based cohort of women with breast cancer
Conclusions Receipts of CSFs and ESAs were significantly associated with an increased risk of VTE in women with breast cancer. Use of ESAs was significantly associated with substantially increased risks of MDS. These findings support those of previous studies.

Radiation-induced carotid artery atherosclerosis.
CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of stroke was significantly increased in patients receiving RT to the neck. There was a consistent difference in CAS and CIMT between irradiated and unirradiated carotid arteries. Future studies should optimise control groups. Breast Cancer and Incident Cardiovascular Events. A Systematic Analysis at the Nationwide Level
CONCLUSIONS: In a large and contemporary analysis of female patients seen in French hospitals, women with history of breast cancer had higher risk of all-cause mortality, new onset heart failure and major bleeding compared to a matched cohort of women without breast cancer. Abstract B84: Increasing disparities in breast cancer mortality for young black women in the U.S. from 1979-2010
Conclusions: Though mortality rates have declined over the past 30 years for women under 50, significant disparities in the two leading causes of death, cancer and CVD, remain. The persistence of disparities across diseases highlights the need to focus on improving health outcomes broadly, in addition to disease centered approaches, in order to prevent premature deaths among young women. The breast cancer mortality rate was two times greater among black women younger than 50 compared to white women, indicating a more profound disparity in younger women than older women. Discussion These results indicate that variation exists in the type of CVD events that occur in breast cancer patients receiving AIs in comparison to tamoxifen users. For example, the risk of ischemic disease or stroke was not elevated in those who used AIs only versus TAM users. However, overall CVD events were greater in women who used AIs only (or sequentially after TAM), especially if they received left-sided breast irradiation. Aromatase Inhibitors and the Risk of Cardiovascular Outcomes in Women With Breast Cancer: A Population-Based Cohort Study.
CONCLUSIONS: In this population-based study, aromatase inhibitors were associated with increased risks of heart failure and cardiovascular mortality compared with tamoxifen. There were also trends toward increased risks, although nonsignificant, of myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke. The increased risk of cardiovascular events associated with aromatase inhibitors should be balanced with their favorable clinical benefits compared with tamoxifen.
