Conclusions
DM is associated with a significantly high risk of septicemia and acute renal failure, but not with other major complications or mortality, after hepatectomy for HCC.

Androgen deprivation therapy and cardiovascular risk in chinese patients with nonmetastatic carcinoma of prostate.

Treatment and survival of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis associated hepatocellular carcinoma
Background:
The incidence of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is increasing worldwide and a poorly defined subset of patients develops end-stage liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Differences in the biological behaviour, tumour characteristics, associated risk factors, treatment outcomes and overall survival of patients with NASH-HCC remain poorly defined. CONCLUSION: The magnitude of subsequent CVD risk varies according to cancer subtype and by the presence of CVRFs. Overall survival in survivors who develop CVD is poor, emphasizing the need for targeted prevention strategies for individuals at highest risk of developing CVD.

AbstractComorbidity assessment and a profound cardiac examination were implemented into pre-treatment diagnostics to analyze their influence on head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) therapy selection and short-term mortality. Comorbidity was measured prospectively in 49 HNSCC patients using standard indices between 2012 and 2013. Cardiac examinations included electrocardiogram, echocardiography, and bicycle ergometry. Intracranial hypertension as the primary symptom of gastric signet-ring cell carcinoma: A case report and literature review
Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of gastric signet-ring cell carcinoma primarily presenting IH and accompanied by subcutaneous metastases. This case emphasizes the importance of excluding malignancy from the differential diagnosis of IH.

Creating a lung adenocarcinoma canvas, one brush stroke at a time
In their carefully characterized large cohort of resected adenocarcinomas reported in this issue of the Journal, Takamochi and colleagues1 demonstrate that epidermal growth factor receptor gene (EGFR) mutations are associated with better prognoses and that subtypes of mutations are not. With nearly 1000 patients analyzed, the study serves as an important guidepost as we navigate treatment courses, weighing the relative importance of each genetic change —particularly driver mutations in lung cancer, both adenocarcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas.
