Concomitant myocarditis and painless thyroiditis after AstraZeneca coronavirus disease 2019 vaccination: a case report
ConclusionsThis case demonstrates that the adenoviral vector coronavirus disease 2019 vaccine could possibly cause myocarditis and painless thyroiditis. Clinicians should have a high index of suspicion and promptly evaluate these conditions, despite minimal symptoms.

Case Report: Right Bundle Brunch Block and QTc Prolongation in a Patient with Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Treated with Hydroxychloroquine.
We report the case of a 60-year-old woman without any cardiac history who developed right bundle brunch block and critically prolonged corrected electrocardiographic QT interval (QTc 631 ms) after treatment for 3 days with HCQ, which resolved on discontinuation of the medication. This case highlights a significant and potentially life-threatening complication of HCQ use. PMID: 32383430 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Diabetic ketoacidosis and coronavirus disease 2019-associated mucormycosis: a case report
ConclusionRhinocerebral mucormycosis mortality is associated with delays in therapeutic interventions, thus a high index of suspicion and early recognition were essential for timely initiation of antifungal therapy and surgical debridement.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and simultaneous acute anteroseptal and inferior ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.
Abstract Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a recently recognised pandemic spreading rapidly from Wuhan, Hubei, to other provinces in China and to many countries around the world. The number of COVID-19-related deaths is steadily increasing. Acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is a disease with high morbidity and mortality rates, and primary percutaneous coronary intervention is usually recommended for the treatment. A patient with diabetes mellitus and hypertension for five years was admitted to the emergency unit with symptoms of fever, cough and dyspnoea. These symptoms were consistent ...

Electrocardiographic Findings in Coronavirus Disease-19: Insights on Mortality and Underlying Myocardial Processes
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a highly infectious virus that causes coronavirus disease (COVID-19), a respiratory syndrome associated with high rates of critical illness and mortality.1,2 As a consequence, there is a need to identify prognostic markers that can aid clinicians in the rapid triage of patients, guide clinical decision making, and inform patients and their families about the anticipated disease trajectory . Electrocardiography (ECG) is a broadly available diagnostic test that can be quickly performed without exposing a large number of personnel to SARS-CoV2 .

Cardiac Manifestations of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19): a Multicenter Cohort Study.
CONCLUSION: Patients with severe COVID-19 had lower LVEF and LVGLS. RVGLS was not different between patients with severe and nonsevere COVID-19. PMID: 33075857 [PubMed - in process]

Coronavirus fulminant myocarditis treated with glucocorticoid and human immunoglobulin
A 37-year-old male patient was admitted to hospital on 14 January 2020, with chest pain and dyspnoea for 3  days, accompanied by diarrhoea. His blood pressure decreased to 80/50 mmHg. X-ray chest film showed significant enlargement of the heart (Panel A: cardiothoracic ratio 0.70). Chest computed tomography (CT) examination indicated pulmonary infection, enlarged heart, and pleural effusion (Panels B andC). The electrocardiogram suspected ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction (III, AVF ST-segment elevation,Panels D andE), an emergency CT coronary angiography revealed no coronary stenosis. Markers of myocardi...

Guidance for Cardiac Electrophysiology During the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic from the Heart Rhythm Society COVID-19 Task Force; Electrophysiology Section of the American College of Cardiology; and the Electrocardiography and Arrhythmias Committee of the Council on Clinical Cardiology, American Heart Association.
We describe the impact of COVID-19 on cardiac arrhythmias and methods of triage based on acuity and patient comorbidities. We provide guidance for managing invasive and non-invasive electrophysiology procedures, clinic visits and cardiac device interrogations. We discuss resource conservation and the role of tele-medicine in remote patient care along with management strategies for affected patients. PMID: 32228309 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Coronavirus Disease 2019 and the Myocardium

Surface electrocardiographic characteristics in coronavirus disease 2019: repolarization abnormalities associated with cardiac involvement
ConclusionsIn COVID ‐19 patients, presence of cardiac injury at admission is associated with poor clinical outcomes. Repolarization abnormalities on surface ECG such as abnormal T waves and prolonged QTc intervals are more common in patients with cardiac involvement and can help in further risk stratification.

Coronavirus disease with multiple infarctions
A 64-year-old man diagnosed with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) by polymerase chain reaction test 2 days after having fever was admitted to another hospital. He had a history of gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer and no known hypercoagulable conditions. Although the patient was treated with favipiravir and ciclesonide, he was intubated owing to the deterioration of his respiratory function on Day 10 of hospitalization. When his condition worsened, he was transferred to our hospital for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) on Day 15 of hospitalization. On admission, his level of consciousness was E1VTM1 on the Glasgow Coma...
