Magnetic resonance imaging in polymyalgia rheumatica-contrast enhancement is not always needed
CONCLUSION: Contrast enhancement is superior to oedema-sensitive MRI in the detection of extracapsular inflammation in PMR. However, using T2w TIRM also detects many but not all PMR cases.PMID:37566119 | DOI:10.1007/s00393-023-01394-7 (Source: Zeitschrift fur Rheumatologie)

The Prevalent Comorbidome at the Onset of Psoriasis Diagnosis
ConclusionThe PsO-onset comorbidome may help health professionals plan more comprehensive patient management. By screening for these common PsO-linked conditions, early diagnosis and treatment may become more frequent, thus greatly benefiting patients on their medical journey. Aberrant phenotype of circulating antigen presenting cells in giant cell arteritis and polymyalgia rheumatica
ConclusionCirculating non-classical monocytes display an activated phenotype in GCA/PMR patients at diagnosis, whereas classical monocytes show reduced expression of activation markers. Whether these findings reflect APC migration patterns or the effects of long-term inflammation remains to be investigated. (Source: Frontiers in Immunology)

Polymyalgia rheumatica-A  challenge in geriatrics : Interdisciplinary presentation of diagnostics and treatment
Z Gerontol Geriatr. 2023 Jul 31. doi: 10.1007/s00391-023-02211-1. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPolymyalgia rheumatica is the second most frequent inflammatory rheumatic disease in people aged over 50 years, after rheumatoid arthritis. It is characterized by pain and morning stiffness in the region of the shoulders, hip girdle and neck. It can be associated with giant cell arteritis (CGA). Treatment with glucocorticoids is indispensable. The duration of treatment varies and often exceeds 1 year. The additive administration of methotrexate is an option for saving glucocorticoids. The biologicals tocilizumab or secukinumab a...
