Immune checkpoint inhibitors associated cardiovascular immune-related adverse events
Front Immunol. 2024 Feb 5;15:1340373. doi: 10.3389/fimmu.2024.1340373. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTImmune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are specialized monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) that target immune checkpoints and their ligands, counteracting cancer cell-induced T-cell suppression. Approved ICIs like cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTLA-4), programmed death-1 (PD-1), its ligand PD-L1, and lymphocyte activation gene-3 (LAG-3) have improved cancer patient outcomes by enhancing anti-tumor responses. However, some patients are unresponsive, and others experience immune-related adverse events (irAEs), affecting organs like the ...

An updated analysis on myocarditis and pericarditis cases reported following mRNA SARS-CoV-2 vaccination in Singapore
CONCLUSIONS: The risk of myocarditis/pericarditis with mRNA vaccines was highest in adolescent males following Dose 2, and this was higher than historically observed background rates. Most cases were clinically mild. The risk of myocarditis should be weighed against the benefits of receiving an mRNA vaccine, keeping in mind that SARS-CoV-2 infections carry substantial risks of myocarditis/pericarditis, as well as the evolving landscape of the disease.PMID:38363732 | DOI:10.4103/singaporemedj.SMJ-2023-089 (Source: Singapore Medical Journal)

Assessing the temporal and cause-effect relationship between myocarditis and mRNA COVID-19 vaccines. A retrospective observational study.
Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart muscle, and if it is accompanied by pericarditis, it is referred to as myopericarditis; in both cases, the body's immune system is causing inflammation in response to an infection or some other trigger. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the term “myocarditis” refers to myocarditis, pericarditis, or myopericarditis [1]. Myocarditis typically occurs more commonly in males than females, and the incidence is highest among infants, adolescents, and young adults [2–4]. Persistent convex ST ‐segment elevation in a patient with a history of prior intracerebral haemorrhage
AbstractManagement of patients with acute chest pain poses a significant challenge in identifying those requiring urgent coronary reperfusion. Electrocardiogram (ECG) constitutes the cornerstone in making prompt clinical decisions by identifying ST-segment elevation, commonly associated with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. It is important to note that ST-segment elevation can also be a manifestation of various cardiac and non-cardiac conditions, from acute myocarditis, early repolarization syndrome, acute pericarditis, and left bundle branch block to unknown origins. The similarity of ECG changes among these co...
