Torn between peds and obgyn
Hi all -- I went into med school thinking I would do peds, but as third year ends, I was really taken by surprise both by how much I liked my time on OBGYN and by how I felt on peds. Breaking it down by field: OBGYN Pros - I felt like I fit in best with the residents here, and really liked the culture. Residents seemed like actual friends, and the attendings were all great. I respond well to the "coach-pushing-you-to-be-better" types - OBGYNs seem like badasses -- thought... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Fellowship - Geographic Preference
Hello! Question for fellowship applicants who aren't committed to staying in a specific region: How do you guys plan to answer the geographic preference question? My worry is that programs will rank applicants higher if they prefer their region. Thoughts? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

AOA Board of Pediatrics vs American Board of Pediatrics
I'm just curious, do most DO's and MD's know that the AOA Board of Pediatrics is equivalent to the ABMS' American Board of Pediatrics, especially for people in general pediatrics? It also offers subspecialty certification in neonatology and allergy/immunology for those in those subspecialties. I understand for those in other specialties, it may not be a viable option because it lacks your subspecialty certification, but for those of you who are general pediatrics bound, why not take this... Not prepared enough for peds fellowship?
I had my second peds anesthesia rotation recently (3 more to go). I really enjoyed it but our site is not very large - so only a few more major cases involving bowel resection, peeling kidneys off major vessels, and neuro case in neonate. A fellowship in peds seems appealing to me - but my prior paediatrics exposure is low. Clerkship was all outpatient and not much of it (no picu or nicu). My residency has been 2 weeks peds ER and then just Peds anesthesia. I just worry that my baseline... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Failed Gen Peds Boards twice
Hi, I failed Gen Peds Board exam 2 consecutive years. Retaking it this year. I used MedStudy both years and did 3 years of PREP the 2nd year, still did not help. Got 70% in ABP Self-assessment both years. What resources helped those who failed? There are many board review options out there - PBR, Rosh Review, ThePassMachine, TrueLearn, NEJM Knowledge+. I'm trying to make the wisest choice that will help me pass this year for sure! Please help! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Kalispell, Montana, MD only
We have concluded negotiations with our hospital, and minted a new 5-year agreement, with 2.5 years guaranteed. Due to expansion, one partner quitting to do full time locums, and a few of us planning on going part time, we have space for up to 4 additional partners, including one BC/BE Pediatrics. We would also be interested in recruiting someone with OR management interest and experience. Open to hiring someone who is currently in training. This is a great lifestyle practice, in a... Pediatric dentistry
I’ll start dental school in August and I know that applying for residency will be more competitive so I want to know what can I do during D1 for my resume? I am thinking about applying for pediatric residency program. As a D1 student, do you think research or shadowing might be great for my application? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Funding ridiculous studies OR Other Weird/Negative Trials
https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa1812405 Okay, maybe it’s just because I’m in pediatrics and if you don’t bag a patient who you are intubating in the unit... you’re essentially committing malpractice, but the NIH really needs to stop supporting stuff like this. The hypothesis was that if you ventilate someone who you’ve sedated and relaxed, their SaO2 stays higher... that can’t be a serious question in 2019. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Radiology LOR while applying for pediatrics
I'm planning to apply for pediatrics residency, I have only 2 US LORs in pediatrics (from the same rotation) and another US LOR from a radiologist which is a strong LOR and the radiologist who wrote me the LOR even mentioned that i like pediatrics in the letter. So i am asking will this LOR from a US radiologist help me to match in pediatrics or it's more or less of no value since it's not from a pediatrician? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
