Same thing as last year! Good luck to everyone applying for the 2025 peds fellowship! Thought I'd start the thread for this application cycle. Anyone starting to hear back from programs? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Help me rank: Dell vs. Baylor
Hi all, I keep going back and forth between what to rank as number 1 for the TMDSAS match, so I wanted to get some other opinions on this. I am currently choosing between Baylor and Dell for my number 1. Ultimately, both are great schools, and I am sure I will be happy at either. I am currently interested in pediatrics as a specialty, however, I'm definitely not set on that. Baylor Pros: TMC(caveat: would only be if I matched to the Houston campus) World renowned clinical... Help -- Dual Applying Psych & Pediatrics vs FM?
My main question / TLDR: Since Psych is not a guarantee bc of my grades, do I dual apply to Peds or to FM as my "backup"??? or BOTH??? Is triple applying even possible, or more like very ill-advised? Hi everyone, you probably need a lot of context with this. I'm a US MD MS3 female. I always thought I would do peds, but fell in LOVE with psych during rotations. I love the flexibility, lifestyle, and median compensation of the field, the patient interactions, the patient population... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Non US applicant
Hello guys! I am an international student in the US, and I will apply to medical school in the cycle of 2026 (currently in second year), and I want to know my chances and what can I do to maximize those chances. I am a neuroscience major, my cGPA is around 3.8 (sGPA 3.9), 125 clinical hours in my home country (pediatrics shadowing) and 100 clinical hours in the US (scribe), 50 hours of clinical neuroscience research. I plan on doing scientific research on personalized medicine and taking... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Lifetime Earning Potential - Pediatric Cardiac ICU vs. Pediatric ICU
This study (Differences in Lifetime Earning Potential for Pediatric Subspecialists - PubMed) is a great reference, but doesn’t look at if after the standard 3-year fellowship, is doing an extra year or two [to work in pediatric cardiac critical care] a negative financial decision in regards to lifetime financial returns. Case reports for Journal
I am preparing a case report for submission. Its a peds icu+peds surgery managed patient. Do any of you have recommendations regarding which journals actually accept case reports now, and free of submission charges of course (trainees have no money!)?? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Internship list - too competitive??
I‘m applying for internship this fall, and I’m starting to think I’m being too picky but because of my family (kids) I’m also geographically restricted. Compared to some others I also don’t have a heavy peds background and balanced my externships out more during training (one 2 year pediatric/adult externship, 1 inpatient adult, and for my last externship most likely pediatric/adolescent IBH or ED). I have a strong interested in pediatric C/L, so have been mostly looking at sites with some... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Help me Decide: Long vs Baylor
Long Pros Love the city, lower cost of living and tuition High graduation rate, good pediatric match Able to take STEP early and get more decision about your own schedule Abuse-pediatric program Cons Graded H/HP/P scale Not NBME exams Lower "rank" consensus than Baylor Baylor Pros In heart of Medical Center, great programs High match rate, Step 1 pass rate, True Pass Fail NBME exams Cons Would rather go to San... Peds vs Ortho
I am a 3rd year dental student that cannot decide if I want to apply to Pediatric Dentistry or Orthodontics residency programs. Is it possible to apply to programs in both specialties and let fate do its thing? Is this frowned upon or straight-up not allowed? Help! Also, if anyone has some. words of advice/encouragement, I am all ears! TIA (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What's with everyone saying "kiddos" now?
At some point during my graduate school training (nearly finished with internship now), I started hearing the pediatric-focused students start saying "kiddos" instead of "child/children," "kids," "adolescents," etc. I don't know how, but it was like a switch was flipped and EVERYONE started doing it. I assumed it was maybe just my program, until I started hearing people at other schools, people at conferences, etc. doing this as well. There's nothing wrong with this, but I'm so... Not enough integrative behavioral health pediatric experiences for internship?
Hi, I’m a rising 4th year doctoral student in clinical psychology and just finished applying to externship sites. I’m spiraling a bit because I am recognizing I might have set myself up a bit for a rough road ahead. My past clinical experience pre doctorate include mostly work with adults. I worked at a research lab that focused on child and family work, and when entering graduate school I worked with a mix of adults and child/adolescents with anxiety and mood disorders, I wanted a solid... Cincinnati vs. Colorado
Hi! I'm coming to the end of my cycle and have narrowed my choices between these two schools. For reference, I'm not geographically close to these schools so I don't have a clear idea of their reputation, other than they are well-regarded schools in their respective regions. For my career interests, I'm looking to go into academic medicine within pediatrics & global health. Specifically, I'm hoping to match at an academic program within a tertiary/quaternary center (i.e., CHOP... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
