Auditory capacity of the better-hearing ear in asymmetric hearing loss
ConclusionsIndividuals with SSD show significantly poorer hearing in the better-hearing ear than individuals with NH from the ISO 7029:2017. In clinical practice, we should, therefore, inform our SSD patients that their disease is accompanied by a reduced hearing capacity on the contralateral side, especially in certain etiologies. To Study the Pre Operative Indicators of Incudal Necrosis in Tubo-Tympanic Chronic Otitis Media
In this study, it was observed that the presence of granulations over the perforation margins, disease persisting for more than 10 years, moderate to moderately severe hearing loss appear to be significant reliable indicators of incudal necrosis in tubo-tympanic type of CSOM. All patients of tubo-tympanic type of CSOM should be assessed in detail so as to reach early diagnosis of ossicular erosion that helps in surgical decision making and preparedness regarding ossiculoplasty and patient consent. Antiseptics in otorhinolaryngology-a  substance overview
HNO. 2024 Apr 9. doi: 10.1007/s00106-024-01456-5. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFor preoperative skin antisepsis, alcohol-containing iodine solutions and octenidine are suitable. For wound antisepsis, polyhexanide and hypochlorous acid (HOCL) are also available, but only PVP-iodine and HOCL can be applied to cartilage. Chlorhexidine should only be used as mouth- and bodywash for Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) decolonization. For the many other throat antiseptics, evidence of clinical efficacy is lacking. For decolonization of the nares, polyhexanide and octenidine are available as nasal gels, but these are inferior to mupiro...
