With combined residencies and Step 1 P/F is DO still viable?
I was previously a pretty strong DO advocate but now I'm afraid that the combined residency merger with Step 1 moving to P/F will severely impact DO applicants. Generally, MD's do better in the match and I'm enterring a DO school that is well ranked with traditionally >95% of the class matching but now I'm afraid for the future. My school does not have a dedicated residency program. Is it worth it to reapply and try to get into an MD? I'm looking at my student loan sheet at my future $240k... Osteopathic Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Reviews *Post Merger Version*
@DNC127 and I both matched into orthopedics this cycle and realized how little information is available regarding reviews on previously AOA (D.O.) orthopedic programs. The way osteopathic orthopedics works is that you will primarily get interviews from the programs you audition, and depending on your application, maybe a few more from programs you did not rotate at. That being said, choosing programs to rotate during your limited time is extremely important. Some websites... Any DO programs worth applying to as an MD post-merger?
Hi, Title is pretty self-explanatory, just wanted to see if there were any historically DO internal medicine programs that had a strong track record of fellowship matches that would be worth an application from a lower-competitiveness MD applicant. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How is CVS not a monopoly??
Just curious to see thoughts here. With every acquisition, I seriously wonder how the government can allow CVS to continue without being considred a monopoly? Is it really ethical to have one company own a large majority of the nation's pharmacy locations (and keep buying up more and more little guys along the way), but then also be Caremark/ESI and acquire Aetna? What loopholes is this satanic company using? The persuasion of $$$ ? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is only COMLEX good enough?
So my school keeps pushing the idea that after the merger, the COMLEX should be exactly equal to the USMLE. Even mentioning step 1, seems kind of taboo. But can’t this type of advice screw students over? I’m starting to feel that the only reason there is still a COMLEX after the merger is because it generates revenue (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Does your DO school publish the average USMLE score for your class?
I go to KCUMB and noticed our school displayed the class board average this year (not public I don't think, but internally). Was curious what other DO school are averaging for USMLE going into the merger. COMLEX: 547.78 (n=355) USMLE: 227.18 (n=274) (Source: Student Doctor Network)

enough itvw's for a DO?
DO student 22X 23X very, very fortunate and lucky to have received 10 itvws so far. but i applied to around 130 and that yield is not the best. 2 of those were from aways. I understand 2018 outcomes put my chances at a good place but with the merger and increased # of applicants I can't help but be worried should I hold out hope any more will come my way? should I feel comfortable with 10? or is 15 the new magic number, especially for DO applicants? ERAS: Do I have to assign my COMLEX or not?
If I’m applying to mostly ACGME programs, can I just send only my USMLE transcript? Or do I have to assign my comlex transcript to all of the programs because of the merger? Thank you in advance! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

AOA/Merger - NRMP Step 1 Score Reporting
3rd year DO student here, and am still on the fence about taking Step 1. Interested in FM residency. Does anyone know if it is required to report Step 1 scores on the NRMP residency application post merger completion? Previously there was still the AOA; therefore, ERAS application. Now it will only be NRMP. I'm just wondering how the actual application will look for those students who only took COMLEX. Thank you. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
