2020 Merger info
Hey guys! I am a premed student who was planning on going into a DO program in 2017. I know this topic has been talked about a lot on here, but I had a couple questions of mine own about the future for DO grads. Given all the new DO schools opening up, will DOs have a hard time finding a job at all (primary care or tougher specialties)? I'd hate to go hundreds of thousands of dollars into debt at a DO school and not be able to find a job. I want to go into IM or FM (this obviously has a good... 2020 Merger info (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Question about the merger
Hello, I will be attending an Osteopathic school this fall. I know that there is a merger between the DO and the MD residencies, and that the merger is supposed to be completed by 2020, which is when I would be graduating. I have a quick question about the timeline. When can students from allopathic schools start applying to osteopathic residencies? Also, when the merger is complete, will the residencies that were previously under AOA have any preference for Osteopathic students? Thank you! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Change the Degree to MDO?
Thoughts MD vs MDO Medical Doctor vs. Medical Doctor of Osteopathy This would be so much more clear for patient populations and pre-meds... Especially with the ACGME/AOA merger... it would be nice if both degrees at least had names that are similar 25% of the DO stigma would go away from this solution alone (Source: Student Doctor Network)

DOs Residency Merger with ACGME
Folks, Can someone realistically tell me if the chances of DOs matching will decrease once the DOs residencies merge with MD residencies? I have heard that DOs and MDs residency programs are merging and I am scared that it will decrease the number of DOs matching now that they don't have their own DO residency programs and they will have to fight for a spot against AMG (MDs), Carribbeans (MDs) and IMGs. Please suggest if pursuing DO at this point is still a good option and a residency is... DOs Residency Merger with ACGME (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Start up vs acquisition ?
I am trying to get myself ready "financially " to own a pharmacy , the one million dollar question is , would you start up a new pharmacy (risky but affordable ) or buy an existing pharmacy (too much money but guaranteed cash flow from day 1 )? Advice please (Source: Student Doctor Network Forums)

Omg!! Nbme 12 196 down from 210!!!
I'm completely freaking out right now! I started with a 170 on my school nbme, got 193 on nbme 7, 205 on nbme 6, 210 on nbme 13, and now I just took nbme 12 and got 196!! I've completed UW and my last 10 blocks is about 62%. I plan on reading FA and pathoma (ESP my weak areas...which is pretty much everything I guess). I'm so disappointed, my exam is in exactly 3 weeks. I don't know what to do! As an IMG, I need to score at least 230 (my goal). I'm afraid if I postpone my exam, I'll go into the class of 2016 and am worried about the looming MD/DO merger and how it will affect IMGs. (Source: Student Doctor Network Forums)

Need advice on post bacc programs
Hi guys, first off I want to say that I know I can get some help by using the search function but I want some help that is specific for my case. TBH, typing in post bacc programs in the search function gave me too many fillers too. Please just hear me out and give me the best advice, thanks. I had a bad undergrad career and my gpa suffers because of it. I was unmotivated at the time and now I want to do medicine. I want to get into a MD program but my grades aren't good enough to get me in (3.1) . I am retaking my MCAT so I don't know what I'll get yet but I guess that is not the main concern of this post. I am trying to ...

why not combine the osteo/allo thread here on SDN?
The news of the ACGME/AOA merger got me thinking: why not combine the two threads here on SDN?? Are the thoughts and worries of an MS so much different than those o an OMS? Just my opinion here, but the separate boards seems to be a case of "separate but equal" (ya I went there :p). It's feels like the separation of the two boards does nothing more than perpetuate this idea that the two are wildly different. Historically? Maybe. Today? Not really. With the recent merger, shouldn't SDN take that first step towards equality? :3 ... but what do I know. I'm just a potato. (Source: Student Doctor Network Forums)
