Chronic Inflammation is the Major Cause of Pituitary Gland Aging in Mice
The pituitary gland regulates numerous processes in the body via endocrine signaling. Of particular interest is the relationship between the pituitary gland and the thymus, which appear to influence one another via still poorly understood exchanges of signals. The thymus is of great importance to immune function, but atrophies with age. There is some data to suggest that provoking greater pituary gland activity can reverse that process, at least in mice. Researchers here provide evidence for the age related degeneration of the pituitary gland and its function in the body to be largely the consequence of rising systemic inf...

If You Think That Only Old People Develop Incontinence, Read This
If you are like me, when you think of adult incontinence you think of someone who is quite old, maybe someone with dementia. That's understandable because certainly there is more incontinence in the older years for varying factors from prostate issues to menopause to dementia. However, a reader opened my eyes and now I know. Due to various illnesses, birth differences, or traumas, many younger people also struggle with it and they face far more of a stigma than their elders. It ’s OK to Break the Rules Now and Then
This study introduces an augmented intelligence platform for the real-time synthesis of institutional knowledge captured in EHRs.” One caveat that the researchers acknowledge in the report was that they had yet to conduct prospective validation of the augmented EHR curation approach.A second nference-based investigation reviewed the records of patients who had received more than 94,000 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, more than 36,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine, and 1,745 doses of the Johnson& Johnson vaccine. The study ’s goal was to determine the incidence of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST), w...

Non-Surgical Solution for Fecal Incontinence: Interview with Miles Rosen, CEO of Pelvalon
Fecal incontinence can be extremely challenging for those who suffer it. The condition can be embarrassing, making it difficult for people to tell others or even their doctor about it, and it is more common than you might think. Fecal incontinence can affect anyone, but a key group of patients includes women during menopause, in whom it is often associated with previous pelvic trauma, such as that which occurs during child-birth. Treatment options are relatively limited and either tend to be minimalist, such as lifestyle changes, or pretty intense, such as expensive surgical implants. There was a gap for a low-risk and ...

Can some postmenopausal women with breast cancer skip chemotherapy?
Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women. In the last two decades, the treatment of breast cancers has become personalized. This has been possible due to the subtyping of breast cancers. Breast cancers have been subtyped based on the receptors on the breast cancer cell. The most clinically significant receptors — those that have targeted therapies — are the estrogen and progesterone receptors and the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). Cancers that have the estrogen and progesterone receptors are termed hormone receptor (HR)-positive cancers. The development of hormone therapy for HR-positi...

In conclusion, PLG attenuates high calcium/phosphate-induced vascular calcification by upregulating P53/PTEN signaling in VSMCs. Higher Cardiovascular Health Score Correlates with Lower Epigenetic Age Acceleration
We examined the association between CVH score and EAA adjusting for self-reported race/ethnicity and education. Among the 2,170 participants analyzed, mean age was 64 (7 SD) years. Higher or more favorable CVH scores were associated with lower extrinsic EAA (6 months younger age per 1 point higher CVH score), and lower intrinsic EAA (3 months younger age per 1 point higher CVH score). This work provides initial evidence for epigenetic age acceleration to be considered as a potential early detection biomarker for CVH. Future studies are needed to evaluate if measures to promote optimal CVH through lifestyle and behavioral i...

5 myths about endometriosis
While endometriosis is a common condition, affecting as many as one in every 10 American women, it is complex and often misunderstood. Endometriosis occurs when tissue much like the tissue that normally lines the uterus — called the endometrium — starts to grow elsewhere in the body. These growths may cause pain, scarring, and, in some instances, infertility. One study shows it can take up to seven years for a woman to get a diagnosis of endometriosis because symptoms may mimic other common conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome or pelvic inflammatory disease. And misconceptions about the disease, including the f...

The older man and his fertility
Many older man worry about their fertility .They know that a woman's fertility declines as she gets older , and therefore they are naturally concerned that their fertility will decline as well .However, the reason a woman's fertility declines as she gets older is because her ovaries stop producing new eggs after birth .
