Dismissed from DPT program. Chances and Tips for getting into another program?
Hello everyone, I was dismissed from my DPT program because of my mental health issues (Social Anxiety stemming from a birth defect). I tried to juggle bettering my mental health issues at the same time of being a DPT student, but I bit off more than I could chew and was dismissed from my program. I am taking a break to focus on my mental health issues and get to the point where my SA is managed and I learn to accept my appearance. Once I feel like I am ready, I want to reapply for DPT... What's The Market Like For A Compounding Pharmacy?
Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone had any insight on what a cash only compounding pharmacy's market is looking like nowadays? I am looking specifically into those that do non-sterile hazardous compounding (USP 800 and USP 795). California advice would be a bonus. The upfront cost of starting an operation like this is around 150K. I know PCCA has a lot of resources and offers guidance, but I'm more trying to learn about if it's even possible to grow and scale a business like this... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Looking for any external chief resident positions for next year :)
I am a PGY-3 in Internal Medicine who applied to Cardiology this year and with only two interviews (including internal), the chances of matching are very low. I am looking at external chief resident positions and beyond searching on LinkedIn, I was told the only other way to learn about open spots is through cold-emailing programs. Was hoping a kind soul on here could provide me an leads privately. I go to a university-affiliated community program, and our chiefs have already been selected... Learning how to improve planning/dosimetry
I now realize as an attending, I wish I was better with plan review. We had rockstar dosi so I took this sorely for granted, but now have someone new I work with, and the plans are not meeting where I thought would be possible. I realize I never developed the language/deeper understanding to effectively communicate how to get to a better plan and I want to learn. The new dosimetrist is very good and hard working but not familiar with dose painting, inhomogeniety on SBRT plans, has... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Are advanced procedures critical during fellowship year
I know this question has been asked and it seems split that ~75% would argue "focus BB, learning flouroscopy and the rest will come", and ~25% would argue something along the lines of "advanced are the future and exposure is critical during fellowship and you'll get the BB anywhere". My question is more specifically if I was to go to a primarily BB focused fellowship with low volume advanced, assuming I would go to training courses for the advanced procedures I want to incorporate, would I... WAMC/School List: 3.31 cGPA, 3.07 sGPA / 519 MCAT - MD-PhD/MD School List Help
Applying in 2024 - 2025 cycle, these are my stats so far. I have a passion for computional (particularly applying machine learning to longitudinal data), and clinical research. I will only apply MD/PhD to schools that closely align with my research interests, as I can always collaborate on research in my network otherwise. I’m nervous about my low GPA — are there any other schools I should (re)consider? Are there other ways I can strengthen my application? cGPA and sGPA as calculated... Learning how to match
Noob question here: is there a typical way set up to learn from people at your school who matched well how they made it happen? Do schools offer some kind of network to graduates for asking stuff like that, or provide info to current students if you want to speak with someone you spotted on their match list? How important is anesthesiology-specific research for a residency application?
Hi all, I am an M1 with a prior master's degree. I'm strongly leaning towards anesthesiology as a specialty. I've been doing research for the last couple months with a professor (PHD) in the radiology / neurology department. I'm set to publish a paper by December, as the first author. It is MRI / multiple sclerosis research. The position is great, I love the research I do, I get paid for the position, I have weekly meetings with the professor and learn a lot. I would... Secondary essay ideas feedback
I'm having some trouble with MCW's prompt which asks: recount a time when you made a decision you regret. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience? Currently I have 2 ideas: 1. Not talking to or visiting my grandmother more (she lives on the other side of planet) and she passed away during the COVID pandemic. 2. Taking a lot of filler classes and not challenging myself or taking classes that really interested me during undergrad. Currently leaning towards... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
