Compensation down?
nycitygas said: I did my fellowship at WashU several years ago. Great learning experience, horrible work/life balance. Not sure if anything changed, but it was worse than my surgery intern year. As someone who has been out for awhile, I caution against doing an ICU fellowship unless you truly hate the OR. The anesthesia job market is on rocket fire while the ICU market is in the dumps. I don’t see the Intensivist market getting better- too many ER-ICU trained physicians in the pipeline. Click to expand... As a new... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

neuropsych psychometrician profit-share?
Hi All - I am about to start a small, part-time neuropsych / testing clinic. I will focus primarily on children and adolescents for learning disabilities and school accommodations, etc. There is someone I plan work with from the outset to help me administer the assessments and testing. They have experience in this area and they would also do much of the administrative work (e.g., communicate with patients and parents to do scheduling, etc.). I was thinking of doing profit sharing with them... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Being a dentist is awesome!!
Hello, future dentists out there, I have been practicing dentistry since 2012. Let me tell you this: No regrets. The first five years of practicing is hard, but I have so much fun learning and making a real difference in people's life. Now I am going back for endo. But general dentistry has served me and my family very well. It is a good profession!!! Well, there are some days you will feel like sh***, but to get the patient out of pain, either endo or EXT third molars indeed make a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

NYITCOM-Long Island vs Midwestern-CCOM?
I am currently deciding between NYITCOM-Long Island and Midwestern-CCOM. I know that CCOM is more expensive than NYITCOM, but due to higher cost-of-living in Long Island as compared to Chicago area both cost-of-attendances equalize. NYITCOM has primarily online learning, while CCOM has in-person classes. What are some other points of comparison can we make? In terms of research, is CCOM or NYITCOM better? How do they compare in rotation sites? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Drexel vs NYMC
Fortunate to have been accepted to both schools but very much on the fence. My pros/cons list is limited to my knowledge of the schools so if you have any info to add please do! Drexel - Pros - New building looks nice - Like Philly, down to get out and go to a new city - Independent learning heavy and only required to go into campus 2-3x per week during preclinical years - really liked my student interview, the vibes seemed good Drexel Cons - Clinical rotations: not exactly sure about this... Change my top 3 W/A from last year's application?
I'm wondering if you guys think I should change one of my top experiences for the W/A section of my app. Originally it was a volunteering experience where I use the extra characters about forming a connection with a kid with autism as a camp counselor. I'm applying to 4 of the same schools as the last cycle and during the year, I accumulated new research focused on predicting patient outcomes with machine learning that has also been impactful. Would those same schools like to see new... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
