Can a DO match Diagnostic Radiology without research?
Hi all, OMS3 here. Came in wanting to do Radiology but at this point haven't done anything notable. No red flags, but no research or other ECs. I really hate the research/twitter/networking game. I spent 6-7 months on a research project and it went nowhere. I'm an older student with a family and have no will or desire to do those things. I just want to work hard, learn medicine and do very well on Step 2, and then practice community medicine after residency. Don't need an academic program... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

negative M3 evaluations
New M3 just got grades back from the first rotation and learning to try to not take criticisms personally. My overall grades are decent and most evaluations are positive, but I had one evaluator (I have an idea who it is) who was particularly negative, they write that my work was "completely disorganized," I was "disinterested and disengaged in patient care" but somehow also "asked too many (patient-related) questions that impeded workflow of the team"...which just sounds contradictory, lol... Educators from University of Michigan ’s Medical School Push for AI Training in the Medical School Curriculum
A group of educators and researchers from University of Michigan’s Medical School called for integrating AI and machine learning into the medical school curriculum in a recent Cell Reports Medicine article. They claimed that AI and its usage is relevant to nearly all areas of clinical practice and that current medical school graduates are left “under prepared” to interface effectively with these technologies. Two of the article’s authors, Erkin Ötleş, a machine learning... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

SHWWENANIGOATS: The Unauthorized GGOATS Sequel - GAME THREAD
Once upon a dream... A mermaid Queeb, a dog, and an ethereal goddess of the mod realm walked into a bar. They were just there for the poutine, of course, as none of them were wont to drink currently. But they didn't need the help of spirits to set loose the giggles. The original story - more than a year prior - had been so complicated. So complex. One of them was just a wee pup learning the ropes. But now, a dream was coming to life. Perhaps it was a fever dream. It... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Job prospects for rural general surgery?
As I consider my future career prospects, I am very interested in general surgery. There are certain scholarships available for med students who agree to later practice in rural communities, which I am very open to, but I would like to learn more about the job prospects for general surgery in rural areas. Is it difficult to find a position in one's community of choice (obviously this may depend on the state)? How do salaries and work-life balance, or lack thereof, compare? Ready for COMLEX Level 1?
Hello, I have my COMLEX Level 1 exam in a few days, and I was wanting to get another opinion regarding my current preparedness for this exam. Stats: 53% COMBANK (100% completed) -- I did this entire Qbank in tutor mode, purely for learning purposes and doing all questions in a system before using other resources such as First Aid. I reviewed my incorrects/guessed questions and the rationale for the correct answer/my answer for all of these questions. COMQUEST (176-question sets... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice Needed - Should I just start over?
I got accepted into 3 different DPT programs. I chose to attend an accelerated program. The curriculum consists of some full-term classes and then multiple bi-term classes (6 per semester) along with the full-term classes. There are no breaks. None. Everything moves so fast and because I wasn't a PTA before starting, everything is new learning. At the time it seemed like a good idea - get in, get out, make money. However, to be honest, I'm not sure that I'm learning at a deep enough level to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
