Zuku vs Vetprep / navle study tools!
Hi everyone, I will be starting my rotations in may and taking the navle in november (ekkkkk). My school will pay for either zuku or vetprep for us to use to study. The last thread about this was many years ago, and I was curious if anything changed. My general understanding is either is fine. Zuku has more pictures, Vetprep more realistic test questions. Please let me know your thoughts. Also I like to have all different mediums for learning like podcasts, games (kahoot), youtube... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UMass vs. TCU
UMass: Pros: Ranking/established medical school Research opportunities are abundant COL in Worcester < Fort Worth I love the block schedule and the fact that there is a week between learning blocks, a lot of students say it is a life saver and preventing them from burnout Longitudinal clinical experiences New building coming Learning communities Cons: Worcester? I'm not a huge city person but I haven't heard great things about Worcester. Personally I like... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Tulane vs Einstein
Einstein Pros Really interesting global health opportunities that jive with my background and previous experiences, provide funding and support to do these types of programs In NYC (kind of), think I would learn so much on clinical rotations in the bronx, the faculty are heavily invested in their community (feel like this is also true with tulane tho) Commutable to Manhattan where I have friends living, maybe could escape the concrete jungle every once in a while to get to... UConn (OOS) vs Columbia
School 1: UConn (OOS) Pros: True P/F Integrated Med Curriculum Theoretically less competition from classmates for OS interviews Cons: Location (Farmington sucks) Team-Based Learning Most lectures are mandatory School 2: Columbia Pros: Best OS numbers in the country NYC (Literally everyone I know is moving there) In general a better location Same P/F... Greatest breadth of knowledge in dentistry - OMFS?
I'm a sucker for knowledge. I love the fact that there is so much to learn in dentistry that one can practically never reach the point where there is nothing left to learn. In your view, what would be the specialty in which there is the most potential things to learn? What has the broadest range of topics? Is it OMFS? Or is it something else? That is a small reason for me to gravitate towards it. Even the fact that OMFS requires the CBSE is kinda cool. Despite me currently contending... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MSW: Is school worth investing in?
Hey everyone! I'm applying to MSW/MFT/Counseling programs now. I could go to a program that takes itself seriously and expects you to work hard. I'd spend 50K and work a lot harder. Or I could go to a school that charges 18K - also CSWE accredited - not work as hard - and get the same paper at the end. I would be willing to pay more for a better education. But LCSWs/LMFTs keep telling me that I will learn NOTHING in school. If that's the case I certainly wouldn't want to pay more for an... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

4 months of clinical experience?
Hello everyone! I am gearing up to apply to both MD and DO schools this summer, really excited! I recently started a clinical job in October, and to be honest, it makes me miserable. I've enjoyed helping my patients and learning about the actual clinical aspect of it, but the work environment is just so nasty, and I had a bad altercation with someone today that was completely uncalled for. I want to quit this job and work somewhere else. I started the end of October, and I want to put my... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Struggling to Choose a focus area
Hi everybody! I am a first-year student who is currently struggling to choose which area of vet med interests me the most. I know I want to practice small animal medicine, but enjoy learning about all of our domestic species. I would like to be able to do advanced surgical techniques for the clinic that hires me after I graduate (TPLO, arthroscopies, etc.), as well as continually learn more about diagnostic ultrasound techniques. I know things might change as I progress through the program... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PsyD vs. medical school?
I’m torn between whether to pursue medical school or a PsyD. I feel like I have a lot of conflicting things to consider. Has anyone ever navigated a similar question? How did you decide? My thought process: I absolutely love clinical work. I despise research and find it monotonous. I primarily want to work with clients/patients. Psychology is my primary passion. I also love medicine. I could learn about various medical topics, from neurology to urology, all day long. I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Clinic Volunteer opportunity abruptly ended
Good morning, I received the most terrifying news this morning, that I was being terminated as a volunteer lab technician (who draws blood) at my local clinic. The reasons they gave were dubious. They included- 1) Not changing gloves between patients 2) Failing to adequately learn the skills of drawing blood 3) *most importantly* they claim that I solicited medical advice by telling a patient they had a malignancy. 1 & 2 were clearly false. Under the watchful eye of my supervisors, I've... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
