Altitude-associated intraocular pressure changes in a gas-filled eye
Conclusion: Short-term low-altitude air travel may be tolerated by some patients with intraocular gas in situ. Further studies are required to define the conditions by which patients with gas bubbles may fly safely. (Source: Retinal Cases and Brief Reports)

Choroidal melanoma during pregnancy: a case report and review of the literature
Conclusion: Although rare, choroidal melanoma in pregnancy is a clinical challenge. Management of these patients should be tailored to maternal and fetal needs. (Source: Retinal Cases and Brief Reports)

Bisphosphonate-induced bilateral anterior uveitis and choroidal effusions with secondary angle closure
Conclusion: In the absence of other plausible etiologies and with recent commencement of a new drug, we postulate that the anterior uveitis and choroidal effusions are likely due to alendronate. This is further supported by complete resolution of the inflammation and effusions once alendronate was withheld. (Source: Retinal Cases and Brief Reports)

Dynamic echography of varix of the vortex vein ampulla
Conclusion: Dynamic echography is very helpful in the establishment of the diagnosis of varix of the vortex vein ampulla and differentiating this benign condition from other retinal or choroidal abnormalities. (Source: Retinal Cases and Brief Reports)

Novel optical coherence tomography findings of a case of sympathetic ophthalmia after 23-gauge vitrectomy
Conclusion: Sympathetic ophthalmia is a known complication after vitrectomy. Optical coherence tomography can be invaluable in monitoring diagnosis and progression of Dalen-Fuchs nodules. (Source: Retinal Cases and Brief Reports)

Paracentral acute middle maculopathy associated with idiopathic intracranial hypertension
Conclusion: Paracentral acute middle maculopathy is believed to arise from a microvascular insult to the retinal deep capillary plexus. We add a previously undescribed association with idiopathic intracranial hypertension to the list of etiologies that can cause PAMM. (Source: Retinal Cases and Brief Reports)

Long-term visual recovery in bilateral handheld laser pointer–induced maculopathy
Conclusion: This case illustrates gradual vision and anatomical improvement over 4 years despite initial poor vision after severe laser pointer macular damage. Visual recovery may be related to patient and exposure factors as well as initial OCT features where an intact Bruch membrane can provide a scaffold for photoreceptors to recover, thereby reducing the outer retinal defect. Intravitreal ranibizumab injection and retinal laser photocoagulation treatment for adult-onset coats disease
Conclusion: Treatment with antiangiogenic agents before laser photocoagulation may be useful for treatment of adult-onset Coats disease. (Source: Retinal Cases and Brief Reports)

Unusual early-onset vitelliform dystrophy possibly linked to the interphotoreceptor matrix proteoglycan-1 p.leu154pro mutation
Conclusion: The p.Leu154Pro IMPG1 mutation may cause symptomatic outer retinal disturbance in the heterozygous state. Further studies are necessary. (Source: Retinal Cases and Brief Reports)

Necrosis of the retina and uveal tract secondary to expanding gas tamponade
Conclusion: We present a case of blindness and intraocular tissue dissolution/disorganization after vitrectomy with intended 20% SF6. To our knowledge, this is the most detailed report of the under-recognized complication of expanding gas tamponade. Institutions hosting vitrectomy surgery should consider enacting a formal “Time Out” that requires all team members to witness accurate fractionation of potentially expansile gas. In the event of acute postoperative glaucoma in such eyes, a single small volume paracentesis cannot be relied upon to protect against continued gas expansion. Paracentral acute middle maculopathy associated with phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor therapy
Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first report of paracentral acute middle maculopathy after the use of PDE-5 inhibitor. Nocturnal arterial hypotension exacerbated by the vasodilatory effect of the PDE-5 inhibitor may have caused transient cilioretinal artery hypo/nonperfusion and insufficiency. Paracentral acute middle maculopathy may represent the earliest form of ischemia in the central macular region, occurring after a milder vascular insult. (Source: Retinal Cases and Brief Reports)

Choroidal neovascularization and chorioretinal atrophy in a patient with melanoma-associated retinopathy after ipilimumab/nivolumab combination therapy
Conclusion: Ipilimumab and nivolumab have been associated with immune-related ocular adverse effects. We report a case of combination therapy presenting with chorioretinal scarring and subsequent CNV in a patient with melanoma-associated retinopathy, a rare yet important adverse effect. Choroidal neovascularization in north carolina macular dystrophy responsive to anti–vascular endothelial growth factor therapy
Conclusion: Recognition and treatment of CNV in North Carolina macular dystrophy can result in improved vision. Genetic testing of the PRDM13 gene can confirm a molecular diagnosis for North Carolina macular dystrophy. (Source: Retinal Cases and Brief Reports)

Sarilumab for recalcitrant cystoid macular edema in non-paraneoplastic autoimmune retinopathy
Conclusion: Management of CME in non-paraneoplastic autoimmune retinopathy is challenging, and long-term immunosuppression is often employed with varying degrees of success. The improvement in refractory CME and perivascular leakage in this case supports the potential role of an IL-6 inhibitor to treat CME associated with non-paraneoplastic autoimmune retinopathy suggesting the role.
