Relative importance of selected predictors of health-related quality-of-life (HRQOL) among U.S. adults
ConclusionThis study quantified and ranked selected contributing factors of HRQOL. Results of this analysis also can be used to validate HRQOL measures based on domain knowledge of HRQOL. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Exploratory factor analysis and Rasch analysis to assess the structural validity of the Adult Social Care Outcomes Toolkit Proxy version (ASCOT-Proxy) completed by care home staff
ConclusionThe ASCOT-Proxy-Resident is a valid instrument of SCRQoL for older adults resident in care homes, completed by staff proxies. Due to the two-factor structure, which differs from the original ASCOT-SCT4, we do not recommend the use of the ASCOT-Proxy-Proxy measure, although collecting data as part of the ASCOT-Proxy questionnaire may support its feasibility and acceptability. Further qualitative study of how care home staff complete and perceive the ASCOT-Proxy is encouraged for future studies. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

The phenotype of recovery XI: associations of sleep quality and perceived stress with discounting and quality of life in substance use recovery
ConclusionTogether, these findings suggest sleep and stress contribute uniquely to the process of addiction recovery. Considering both factors when designing interventions and planning for future research is recommended. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Measuring reconceptualization and reprioritization during France ’s first COVID-19-related lockdown in women with and without a history of cancer: an adaptation of the SeiQol-DW and PGI
ConclusionOur novel ad hoc quasi-qualitative tool made it possible to assess the QoL of women with a history of cancer, a particularly vulnerable population in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, it highlighted a difference in reconceptualization and reprioritization between this population and women with no such history. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Development and validation of the HDSIM ™ assessment system: a measure of hemorrhoid disease symptom impact
ConclusionThe HDSIM system is fit for purpose in hemorrhoid disease clinical trials research. Since measures are validated in an iterative manner over many studies and over time, the present study results should be considered preliminary. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Association between sleep quality and quality of life in Singapore
ConclusionOur study found that poor sleep quality was associated with HRQOL of certain age groups more than others. Future studies may identify potential mediators to help people with chronic sleep problems. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Measuring health-related quality of life in children with suspected genetic conditions: validation of the PedsQL proxy-report versions
ConclusionThe PedsQL Generic Core Scales and Infant Scales may be appropriate to measure HRQoL in pediatric patients with suspected genetic conditions across a wide age range. While we found evidence of acceptable internal consistency and preliminary convergent validity in this sample, there were some potential problems with structural validity and reliability that require further attention. Health-related quality of life measures provide information on the contributors, components, and consequences of frailty in HIV: a systematic mapping review
ConclusionHRQL items and measures show a strong potential to operationalize multidimensional frailty and physical frailty. The study suggests that these measures, connected to evidence-based interventions, could be pivotal in directing resources toward vulnerable populations to mitigate the onset of frailty.
