Sociodemographic factors and use of pain medication are associated with health-related quality of life: results from an adult community mental health service in Norway
ConclusionThe most impacted domains of HRQoL were pain/discomfort, anxiety/depression, and usual activities. Lower HRQoL was associated with several socio-demographic factors and use of pain medication. These findings might have clinical implications and suggest that mental health professionals should routinely measure HRQoL in addition to symptom severity, to identify areas that should be targeted to improve HRQoL. Health-related quality of life profiles in adolescents and young adults with chronic conditions
ConclusionsApproximately half of AYAs with a chronic condition experience moderate to severe HRQOL impact. The availability of risk prediction models for HRQOL impact will help to identify AYAs who are in greatest need of closer clinical care follow-up. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Associations between treatments, comorbidities and multidimensional aspects of quality of life among patients with advanced cancer in the Netherlands —a 2017–2020 multicentre cross-sectional study
ConclusionOur study identified associations between specific cancer treatments, lower QoL and more symptoms. Monitoring symptoms may improve QoL of patients with advanced cancer. Producing more evidence from real life data would help physicians in better identifying patients who require additional supportive care. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Social factors of health-related quality of life in older adults: a multivariable analysis
ConclusionSociodemographic, socioeconomic, psychosocial, and behavioural factors were associated with physical and mental HRQOL. These results highlight the importance of social factors in HRQOL and provide approaches for policy and practice to develop and implement tailored health interventions for older adults. Our findings may be transferable to municipalities in metropolitan areas of high-income European countries.Clinical trial registration: Not applicable. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Health related quality of life in adults after late repair of tetralogy of fallot: experience from a low-middle income country
ConclusionOur results indicate that even with a delayed diagnosis, surgical repair of TOF produces good functional results. However, these patients face significant psychosocial issues. While early diagnosis remains the ultimate goal, patients undergoing late repair should be managed in more holistic manner with attention to psychological impact of the disease as well. A systematic review of health state utility values and psychometric performance of generic preference-based instruments for children and adolescents with mental health problems
ConclusionThis review provides an overview of HSUVs of various MHPs, the current practice to generate HSUVs, and the psychometric performance of MAUIs used in children and adolescents with MHPs. It highlights the need for more rigorous and extensive psychometric assessments to produce evidence on the suitability of MAUIs used in this area. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Response shift in parent-reported psychopathology in children with chronic physical illness
ConclusionsResponse shift detected on the conduct disorder subscale of the OCHS-EBS, indicated that parents of children with physical illness may recalibrate their responses on child psychopathology over 24  months. Researchers and health professionals should be aware of RS when using the OCHS-EBS to assess child psychopathology over time. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Understanding the measurement relationship between EQ-5D-5L, PROMIS-29 and PROPr
DiscussionThere is some consistency in what the EQ-5D-5L, PROMIS-29 and PROPr measure. Differences between value set characteristics can be linked to differences what is measured and the valuation approaches used. This has implications for the use of each in assessing health outcomes, and the results can inform decisions about which instrument should be used in which context. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Determinants of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among homeless individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic
ConclusionsOverall, our study findings showed a quite high HRQoL among homeless individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany. Improving the quality of life of parents of patients with congenital abnormalities using psychoeducational interventions: a systematic review
ConclusionsThis review is the first that assesses the impact of psychoeducational interventions targeted at parents of children with CA on their QoL. The best approach to intervention is multiple group sessions. Two essential strategies were to give support material, enabling parents to review, and the possibility of an online program application, increasing accessibility. However, because all included studies focus on CHD, generalizations should be made carefully. These findings are crucial to guide future research to promote and improve comprehensive and structured support for families and integrate them into daily pract...
