Comparison of patient-reported outcomes measurement information system (PROMIS ®)-29 and PROMIS global physical and mental health scores
ConclusionsPROMIS-29 and PROMIS global mental health scales provide different information and, therefore, study conclusions may vary depending on which measure is used. Interpretation of results needs to consider that the PROMIS-29 mental health scale is a weighted combination of specific domains while the PROMIS global mental health scale is based on general mental health perceptions. Further comparisons of methods of assessing mental health are needed. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Estimating anchor-based minimal important change using longitudinal confirmatory factor analysis
ConclusionThe MIC can accurately be estimated using LCFA, but sample sizes need to be preferably greater than 125. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Development of algorithms to estimate the EQ-5D-5L from the FACT-L in patients with lung cancer: a mapping study
ConclusionsThis study developed an optimized mapping algorithm to predict the utility index from the FACT-L to the EQ-5D-5L, which provides an effective alternative reference for EQ-5D-5L estimation when the preference-based health utility values were unavailable. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Response shift in coronary artery disease
ConclusionAdjusting for RS is recommended in studies that use SAQ-CAN to assess changes in patients with CAD who have received revascularization versus OMT alone. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Unsupervised item response theory models for assessing sample heterogeneity in patient-reported outcomes measures
ConclusionPCTree and MixPCM were not consistent in detecting covariates associated with differential interpretations of PROM items. Future research will use computer simulations to assess these models ’ Type I error and statistical power for identifying covariates associated with DIF. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Validation of the brain injury  associated visual impairment - impact questionnaire (BIVI-IQ)
ConclusionThe BIVI-IQ has been shown to be valid and practical for ‘everyday’ use by clinicians and researchers to monitor vision-related quality of life in stroke survivors with visual impairment. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Do physical fitness and cognitive function mediate the relationship between basic activities of daily living and quality of life in older adults with dementia?
ConclusionsPhysical fitness (i.e., lower body strength, aerobic capacity, and mobility) plays a role in the relationship between basic ADL independence and QoL of older adults with dementia, reinforcing the need to improve and monitor these parameters throughout the disease progression. Future longitudinal studies should explore the temporal relationship between physical and cognitive function and its contribution to basic ADL independence and QoL. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Understanding experiences of cancer-related fatigue in patients with lung cancer after their cancer treatment: a qualitative content analysis
ConclusionTailored interventions that take into account the multidimensional symptoms of CRF and patient characteristics are crucial. These findings will guide healthcare professionals when implementing patient-centered symptom management and patient education. (Source: Quality of Life Research)

Australian population norms for health-related quality of life measured using the EQ-5D –5L, and relationships with sociodemographic characteristics
ConclusionsThis is the first Australian study to apply the EQ-5D-5L in a nationally representative sample. The EQ-5D-5L Australian population norms obtained can be used as reference scores for future population health evaluations and comparisons. The findings facilitate a national reference for clinical, economic, and policy decision-making processes and provide a fuller understanding of the Australian population ’s HRQoL.
