Lower lip melanoacanthoma microscopically presenting plasma cell cheilitis –like features
Oral melanoacanthoma is an uncommon benign pigmented lesion, microscopically presenting hyperplasia of spinous keratinocytes and dendritic melanocytes. Its pathogenesis remains uncertain, although the clinical behavior suggests a reactive origin. Oral melanoacanthoma affects mainly young adults and Blacks, with a strong female predilection. The most common oral sites are the buccal mucosa, lip, palate, and gingiva. Plasma cell cheilitis (PCC) is an inflammatory disorder of unknown etiology that affects the lips. Intraosseous hemangioma in maxilla: a rare entity
A 49-year-old woman sought dental care, complaining of facial pain. On physical examination, a tumefaction of hardened consistency was noted in the paranasal region, measuring approximately 2 cm in diameter. Computed tomography revealed the presence of a heterogeneous mass with soft tissue density, containing images of bone inside. The lesion was located lateral to the piriform opening, occupying part of the right maxillary sinus. The diagnostic hypothesis was a benign fibro-osseous lesion. An incisional biopsy was performed. Intraoral tuberculosis clinically mimicking malignancy: case report
Tuberculosis (TB) is a chronic granulomatous disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, classified clinically as pulmonary and extrapulmonary disease, depending on the involved area. Oral manifestations by TB are uncommon, and when they occur, they usually present as superficial ulcers, patches, papillomatous lesions, or indurated soft tissue lesions. A 52-year-old man was referred for management of asymptomatic ulcerated lesion on the palate with 6-month of evolution. The main clinical differential diagnosis was squamous cell carcinoma. Intraoral pigmented benign fibrous histiocytoma: an unusual presentation
Benign fibrous histiocytoma (BFH) is a benign mesenchymal neoplasm that shows both fibroblastic and histiocytic differentiation. To date, about 65 oral BFH cases have been reported. Oral BFH most often affects middle-aged adults, with a female predilection. Several variants of BFH have been described, such as classical, aneurysmal, hemosiderotic, cellular, epithelioid, lipidized, clear cell, granular cell, myxoid, and signet-ring cell. Oral lesions in a post-covid-19 patient: a case report
Recent studies have suggested that oral lesions in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) could be the result of a direct viral infection or related to disease treatment and immunosuppression. A 78-year-old female patient 15 days post-COVID-19 had pain, dysgeusia, and odynophagia. Erosive lesions were observed with circumscribed halos of different sizes along the entire length of the dorsum and bilateral borders of the tongue and labial mucosa. Sarcomatoid carcinoma: case report
Sarcomatoid carcinoma (SC) is a malignant tumor characterized by double malignant histology with differentiation of epithelial and mesenchymal components, a rare variant of squamous cell carcinoma. The report is of a 40-year-old female patient who presented pain in the upper gingival mucosa on the left side. The intraoral exam showed extensive ulceration on the hard palate that extended from the buccal mucosa to the midline. An incisional biopsy was performed and the anatomopathologic diagnosis was SC. Subcutaneous emphysema due to dental prophylaxis
Subcutaneous emphysema is a rare complication associated with dental procedures that can have potentially life-threatening complications. A 40-year-old White female patient was submitted to a dental prophylaxis with dental ultrasonic and jet of sodium bicarbonate to remove dental calculus. During the procedure, the patient reported discomfort associated with the appearance of diffuse swelling in the right facie. The region was slightly erythematous and with crackling on palpation. Dentinogenic ghost cell tumor with focal features suggesting ghost cell odontogenic carcinoma: a challenging diagnosis

Focal epithelial hyperplasia (heck's disease) in an adult patient: case report
We report the case of a 38-year-old dark-skinned man who attended the health service of the university complaining of an oral mucosa burning sensation. On clinical examination, the patient presented multiple pink papular lesions, firm by palpation, with agglomerated or isolated papules located on the alveolar ridge, inserted and free gingiva of the upper and lower arch, and buccal and labial mucous membranes consistent with HPV lesions. Female presenting with paracoccidioidomycosis
A 70-year-old female patient was referred for assessment of symptomatic buccal lesions that were present for 5 months. Extraoral examination revealed upper lip edema and lip commissure ulceration. Intraoral examination demonstrated oral ulcerations bearing a superficial granular mulberry-like aspect extending through the superior alveolar ridge, upper labial mucosa, buccal mucosa, and palate. Surgical ciliated cyst of the maxilla: report of a rare late surgical complication
Surgical ciliated cyst (SCC) is a rare lesion supposed to arise due to the entrapment of the remnants of the maxillary sinus lining epithelium in the surgical bone wound. A 51-year-old White woman complained of painful enlargement in the right malar region for approximately 1 year. Intraosseous schwannoma affecting the mandible: case report and immunohistochemical analysis
Schwannomas are neoplasms arising from differentiated Schwann cells. These tumors most often affect the soft tissues of the head and neck and rarely occur in intraosseous location. Maxillary chondromyxoid fibroma in a 1-year-old child: a rare case report and immunohistochemical analysis
Chondromyxoid fibroma (CF) is a benign chondroid and myxoid matrix –producing tumor, often arising in proximal or distal parts of long bones in young adult patients. Local recurrence is common. To date, 25 CFs affecting the jaws have been reported, with the mandible being more involved (76%). A 1-year-old male baby was referred presenting a tumor mass in the left anterior maxilla 2 months ago. The tumor mass caused facial asymmetry.
