Integrating e-cigarette (vaping) questions into medical and dental charts: a critical need
The use of nicotine-containing products has changed significantly as electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) and vaporizers have become devices with huge commercial potential.1,2 The initial aim of these devices was to help smokers reduce their tobacco consumption and quit the habit; however, evidence has shown that these devices have rapidly become popular around the world, predominantly among young people who have never been smokers.3,4 E-cigarettes are devices that store and release nicotine by aerosolized vapor containing a myriad of other harmful and potentially carcinogenic substances that are poorly understood in terms...

Evaluation of micrometastasis and isolated tumor cells in node-negative early-stage oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma: A cross-sectional study in tertiary-level hospitals in eastern India
The present study aimed to investigate the incidence of micrometastasis (MMs) and isolated tumor cells (ITCs) in node-negative early-stage oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (T1 –T2 N0). The secondary objective was to correlate the incidence with the clinicopathologic parameters of age, sex, depth of invasion, pattern of invasion, host lymphocytic response, and size and grade of primary tumor. Evaluation of micrometastasis & isolated tumor cells in node-negative early-stage oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma- a cross-sectional study in tertiary level hospitals of eastern India
The present study aimed to investigate the incidence of micro-metastasis (MM) and isolated tumor cells (ITC) in node-negative early-stage oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (T1-2 N0 OTSCC). The secondary objective was to correlate the incidence with clinicopathological parameters of age, gender, depth of invasion, pattern of invasion, host lymphocytic response, size and grade of the primary tumor. Oral Malassezia infection co-occurring with tinea versicolor: Metagenomic sequencing of the saliva
Malassezia is a lipid-dependent cutaneous symbiotic fungal genus associated with tinea versicolor. Here, we first present a rare case of a young tinea versicolor patient with oral manifestations presenting as white strips, patches, and pigmentation. The patient had a family history of tinea versicolor and a habit of frequent intake of cream. Histopathologic features and periodic acid-schiff staining of oral lesion indicated oral infection with round budding yeasts with short hyphae. Saliva metagenomic sequencing identified Malassezia and demonstrated the upregulated amount, diversity and activity of inflammatory bacteria. ...
