Integrating e-cigarette (vaping) questions into medical and dental charts: a critical need

The use of nicotine-containing products has changed significantly as electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) and vaporizers have become devices with huge commercial potential.1,2 The initial aim of these devices was to help smokers reduce their tobacco consumption and quit the habit; however, evidence has shown that these devices have rapidly become popular around the world, predominantly among young people who have never been smokers.3,4 E-cigarettes are devices that store and release nicotine by aerosolized vapor containing a myriad of other harmful and potentially carcinogenic substances that are poorly understood in terms of product formulation and have been linked to a range of health issues, including respiratory,5 cardiovascular,6 and oral conditions.
