Incidence of Cutaneous Melanoma of Eyelid Analysis of the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Database
Conclusions: Cutaneous melanoma of the eyelid is uncommon compared to melanoma of facial skin and the scalp/neck. This can be explained in part by the comparatively small surface area at risk. Like melanomas elsewhere, the annual incidence of eyelid melanoma has risen over the last 4 decades, but less than of facial skin and the scalp/neck. Over the span of this study, cause-specific survival from eyelid melanoma was comparable to that of facial skin and better than that of the scalp/neck.Ocul Oncol Pathol (Source: Ocular Oncology and Pathology)

Age Conditional Probability of Ocular and Ocular Adnexal Malignancies
Conclusions: Age-conditional probability of developing cancer is a conceptually friendly means of understanding and communicating risk. It is particularly useful in comparing the risks of uncommon or rare cancers, such as those found in and around the eye. The assessment of risk in terms of age-conditional probability is a versatile and an underutilized pedagogical tool.Ocul Oncol Pathol (Source: Ocular Oncology and Pathology)

Clinical Spectrum and Outcomes of Ocular and Periocular Complications following External-Beam Radiotherapy for Inoperable Malignant Maxillary Sinus Tumors
Conclusion: High-dose EBRT for inoperable MMST can lead to a wide array of severe ocular/periocular complications. AMT serves as a potentially useful treatment modality to restore the ocular surface integrity after severe radiation keratopathy. We advocate active monitoring for any evolving ophthalmic complications during and after EBRT to enable timely intervention.Ocul Oncol Pathol (Source: Ocular Oncology and Pathology)

A Case Series of “Solitary Idiopathic Choroiditis” and Proposal of a Nomenclature Change to “Idiopathic Scleroma”
Conclusion: Optical coherence tomography shows SIC to be an intrascleral lesion. Furthermore, we found no evidence of any inflammatory component. A nomenclature change to idiopathic scleroma is appropriate to prevent unnecessary investigation.Ocul Oncol Pathol (Source: Ocular Oncology and Pathology)

Acetylsalicylic Acid Exerts Potent Antitumor and Antiangiogenic Effects in Cutaneous and Uveal Melanoma Cell Lines
Conclusions: These results suggest that ASA may be effective as an adjuvant therapy in metastatic CM and UM. Future studies are needed to determine the regulating targets that are responsible for the antitumor effects of ASA.Ocul Oncol Pathol (Source: Ocular Oncology and Pathology)

Immunotherapy-Resistant Vitreoretinal Metastatic Melanoma
Conclusion: Vitreoretinal metastasis can develop despite favorable systemic response to immunotherapy in patients with metastatic cutaneous melanoma. Lack of ocular penetration and extension of life span with immunotherapeutic agents may be the underlying mechanism for vitreoretinal metastasis.Ocul Oncol Pathol (Source: Ocular Oncology and Pathology)

Treating Choroidal Metastases and Improving Vision with Osimertinib in EGFR T790M-Mutated Lung Adenocarcinoma: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
A 41-year-old never-smoking female was diagnosed with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutated T2bN3M1b lung adenocarcinoma with axillary lymph nodes. She complained of blurred vision in the left eye (2/60) and was subsequently found to have a left choroidal metastasis. Treatment with tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) erlotinib was started, and after 1 year of disease stability, she developed unsteadiness and worsening visual disturbance (1/60). Brain imaging showed 24 new brain metastases, which were treated with Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery. An enlarging axillary lymph node was biopsied, which identified th...

Role of Conjunctival Ultraviolet Autofluorescence in Ocular Surface Squamous Neoplasia
Conclusions: Conjunctival autofluorescence was seen in the majority of cases with OSSN, in spite of negative cytology reports. Our study demonstrates that CUVAF may serve as an effective ancillary, non-invasive, and resource-friendly tool for supplementing the clinical diagnosis of OSSN, especially in diffuse and recurrent lesions that are not amenable to surgical intervention.Ocul Oncol Pathol (Source: Ocular Oncology and Pathology)

Retinoblastoma in Children Older than 6 Years of Age
Conclusions: This is the largest study of older age retinoblastoma and shows that it forms a significant percentage of retinoblastoma in developing countries, is misdiagnosed in one-third of cases, and may present at an advanced stage in 46% of cases.Ocul Oncol Pathol (Source: Ocular Oncology and Pathology)

Multifocal Intraretinal Tumour Deposits following Treatment of an Ipsilateral Choroidal Melanoma
Conclusion: Retinoinvasive melanoma is a rare subtype of uveal melanoma, characterised by transvitreal melanoma invasion of the retina at a site non-contiguous with the uveal tumour, which may explain the clinical and pathological findings of the reported case.Ocul Oncol Pathol (Source: Ocular Oncology and Pathology)

Metastatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Tonsil Mimicking Choroidal Melanoma
We describe a case of a 53-year-old man with a history of metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the tonsil who presented with a large, dome-shaped, choroidal mass in the left eye with concern for extra-ocular extension. Standardized echography showed a choroidal mass with low-to-medium internal reflectivity, pockets of very low reflectivity, positive angle kappa, and 1+ vascularity that were concerning for primary choroidal melanoma. Biopsy of the lesion was consistent with metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the tonsil rather than melanoma. This is only the second reported case of metastatic squamous cell carcinoma to t...

Lipid-Producing Ciliochoroidal Melanoma with Expression of HMG-CoA Reductase
Uveal melanoma (UM) is the commonest primary intraocular malignancy in adults. There is limited published data on lipid production in UM. Here, we describe the clinical, histological, immunohistochemical, and molecular findings in a ciliochoroidal melanoma with lipid production and expression of the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase. This case highlights an unusual UM tumour phenotype with a high-risk molecular metastatic profile and discusses tumour lipogenesis and activation of the mevalonate pathway as a potential therapeutic target in managing lipidised ciliochoroidal UM.Ocul Oncol Pathol (Source: Ocular Oncology and Pathology)

Orbital Pseudocellulitis: A Retinoblastoma-Associated Masquerade Syndrome
Conclusions: Medical history, physical examination, and imaging studies are crucial in the diagnosis of retinoblastoma-associated orbital pseudocellulitis. Progressive Preretinal Fibrosis with Late, Ossifying, Proliferative Retinopathy following Treatment for Retinoblastoma
We report a case of retinal atrophy and progressive preretinal fibrosis in an eye previously treated with intravenous and intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC), which evolved immediately after treatment with intravitreal injection of melphalan. The atrophy and fibrosis progressed later to proliferative retinopathy with dystrophic ossification. The patient was originally diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma at 4 months of age and was treated with systemic chemotherapy followed by IAC. New vitreous seeds developed and required treatment with intravitreal chemotherapy. There was resolution of vitreous seeding after 2 doses of ...
