Incidence of Cutaneous Melanoma of Eyelid Analysis of the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Database
Conclusions: Cutaneous melanoma of the eyelid is uncommon compared to melanoma of facial skin and the scalp/neck. This can be explained in part by the comparatively small surface area at risk. Like melanomas elsewhere, the annual incidence of eyelid melanoma has risen over the last 4 decades, but less than of facial skin and the scalp/neck. Conclusion: High-dose EBRT for inoperable MMST can lead to a wide array of severe ocular/periocular complications. AMT serves as a potentially useful treatment modality to restore the ocular surface integrity after severe radiation keratopathy. Role of Conjunctival Ultraviolet Autofluorescence in Ocular Surface Squamous Neoplasia
Conclusions: Conjunctival autofluorescence was seen in the majority of cases with OSSN, in spite of negative cytology reports. Metastatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Tonsil Mimicking Choroidal Melanoma
We describe a case of a 53-year-old man with a history of metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the tonsil who presented with a large, dome-shaped, choroidal mass in the left eye with concern for extra-ocular extension. Standardized echography showed a choroidal mass with low-to-medium internal reflectivity, pockets of very low reflectivity, positive angle kappa, and 1+ vascularity that were concerning for primary choroidal melanoma. Lipid-Producing Ciliochoroidal Melanoma with Expression of HMG-CoA Reductase
Uveal melanoma (UM) is the commonest primary intraocular malignancy in adults. There is limited published data on lipid production in UM. Here, we describe the clinical, histological, immunohistochemical, and molecular findings in a ciliochoroidal melanoma with lipid production and expression of the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase. Progressive Preretinal Fibrosis with Late, Ossifying, Proliferative Retinopathy following Treatment for Retinoblastoma
We report a case of retinal atrophy and progressive preretinal fibrosis in an eye previously treated with intravenous and intra-arterial chemotherapy (IAC), which evolved immediately after treatment with intravitreal injection of melphalan. The atrophy and fibrosis progressed later to proliferative retinopathy with dystrophic ossification.
