Curcumin reduces myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury, by increasing endogenous H < sub > 2 < /sub > S levels and further modulating m < sup > 6 < /sup > A
CONCLUSION: CUR attenuates MIRI by regulating the expression of H2S level-regulating enzymes and increasing the endogenous H2S levels. Increased H2S levels could regulate the m6A-related proteins expression and intracellular total RNA m6A levels.PMID:38643323 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-024-09478-6 (Source: Molecular Biology Reports)

Decoding the molecular phylogenetics of ornamental catfishes (siluriformes) of North East India using DNA barcoding approach
CONCLUSIONS: In this study, the maximum intraspecific genetic distance of 0.03 and the minimum interspecific genetic distance of 0.14 were observed among the species. Therefore, it is evident that there is a barcoding gap among the species, which helped in the correct identification of the species. Thus, DNA barcoding helped complement the phenetic approach and also revealed a different phylogenetic relationship among the catfishes belonging to the Bagridae family.PMID:38637345 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-024-09487-5 (Source: Molecular Biology Reports)

The RAS oncogene in brain tumors and the involvement of let-7 microRNA
Mol Biol Rep. 2024 Apr 18;51(1):531. doi: 10.1007/s11033-024-09439-z.ABSTRACTRAS oncogenes are master regulator genes in many cancers. In general, RAS-driven cancers have an oncogenic RAS mutation that promotes disease progression (colon, lung, pancreas). In contrast, brain tumors are not necessarily RAS-driven cancers because RAS mutations are rarely observed. In particular, glioblastomas (the most lethal brain tumor) do not appear to have dominant genetic mutations that are suitable for targeted therapy. Standard treatment for most brain tumors continues to focus on maximal surgical resection, radiotherapy and chemothera...

p-Smad3 differentially regulates the cytological behavior of osteoclasts before and after osteoblasts maturation
CONCLUSIONS: As pre-osteoblasts undergo maturation, p-Smad3 mediated a paracrine effect that transitions osteoclast cellular behaviors from inducing differentiation and stimulating bone formation to promoting apoptosis and coupling angiogenesis.PMID:38632128 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-024-09400-0 (Source: Molecular Biology Reports)

Gene expression profiling of vitamin D metabolism enzymes in leukemia and lymphoma patients: molecular aspect interplay of VDR, CYP2R1, and CYP24A1
CONCLUSION: The study revealed a noteworthy difference in VDR protein levels between men and women. The highest mean CYP24A1 protein levels were observed in the age group > 60 years. This study found a significant, moderately positive correlation between VDR protein levels and CYP24A1 protein levels in the male and vitamin D sufficiency groups. In addition, a significant positive correlation was found between VDR mRNA levels and CYP2R1 mRNA levels, VDR mRNA levels and CYP2R1 mRNA levels, and CYP2R1 mRNA levels and CYP24A1 mRNA levels. However, the expression of these genes does not correlate with the protein levels of i...
