Illuminating CACFP Partnerships that Improved Food Access and Waiver Utilization for Feeding Young Children in ECE during COVID-19: A Qualitative Study
During the COVID-19 pandemic, little is known about the partnerships formed between early care and education (ECE) programs and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and other organizations to continue to feed young children. Such information can provide important lessons to build ECE capacity for feeding children during future emergencies and has the potential strengthen the ECE food systems. Behavioral lifestyle intervention program using mobile application improves diet quality in adults with prediabetes (D'LITE study): a randomized controlled trial
Mobile health applications (mHealth apps) are increasingly being used in weight loss interventions. However, evidence on the effects of such interventions on diet quality and their correlation with weight loss is lacking. (Source: Journal of the American Dietetic Association)

Authors ’ Response:
The ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence (AI) integration in nutrition and dietetics practice are indeed complex and deserve further exploration. In a recent reflection, Haupt and Marks1 distinguished 3 scenarios of AI chatbot use in health care. For credentialed nutrition and dietetics practitioners (CNDPs), these scenarios could be 1) AI within the patient/client-CNDP relationship that augments rather than replaces clinician judgment, 2) patient/client-facing AI in nutrition care delivery that substitutes for clinician judgment, and 3) direct-to-patient/consumer nutrition advice-giving. Modified-weight Healthy Eating Index-2015 scores are more strongly associated with mortality risk than standard scores
Various diet quality scores are consistently and similarly associated with mortality risk. Emerging evidence suggests that individual diet quality components are differentially associated with mortality risk, but it is unclear whether modified weights reflective of relative component differences would strengthen mortality associations. USDA Summer Meals Programs: Meeting the Nutritional Needs of Children
While research shows that children from households with low incomes have diet quality that is better during the school year versus the summer, very little research exists around the nutritional quality of summer meals available to children through the U.S. Department of Agriculture ’s (USDA) summer meals programs. Campus food pantry use may improve daily frequency of fruit and vegetable intake among California university students experiencing food insecurity
University students are at increased risk for both food insecurity and suboptimal fruit and vegetable (F/V) intake. Campus food pantries (CFP) have been a common intervention in response to student food insecurity, but there have been few evaluations of the effectiveness of this strategy on improving students ’ dietary intake. Development and Validation of an Abbreviated Child and Adult Food Security Scale for Use in Clinical and Research Settings in the United States
Food insecurity (FI) prevalence was consistently>10% over the past 20 years, indicating chronic economic hardship. Recession periods exacerbate already high prevalence of FI, reflecting acute economic hardship. To monitor FI and respond quickly to changes in prevalence, an abbreviated food security scale measuring presence and severity of household FI in adults and children is needed. Measuring Food Security among American Indian and Alaska Native Adults: Validity Evidence Supports the Use of the US Department of Agriculture Module
Inequities in access, availability, and affordability of nutritious foods produced by settler colonialism contribute to high rates of food insecurity among American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) households. Efforts to understand the influences of food security programming among AI/AN individuals in the United States are constrained by the absence of validity evidence for food security assessments for this population.
