Bilateral exudative retinal detachment, unusual pattern of uveitis with multiple sclerosis
AbstractMS (Multiple sclerosis) associated uveitis used to have limited phenotypes. Bilateral exudative retinal detachment has never been recognized as a pattern of MS-associated uveitis. We are reporting a patient with multiple sclerosis who presented initially with the usual pattern of intermediate uveitis and later developed bilateral exudative retinal detachment. Unusual pattern of herpetic optic neuropathy: a case report and literature review of the pathophysiology of herpetic uveitis
AbstractHerpetic uveitis is a relatively common type of intraocular inflammation with a broad spectrum of manifestations ranging from mild anterior uveitis to rapidly progressing vision threatening necrotizing retinitis. Posterior herpetic uveitis presents with different clinical patterns within a spectrum depending presumably on the immune status of the patient. Systemic steroid use for viral uveitis without prior antiviral coverage is inappropriate and can lead to dramatic sequelae. Here, we report an unusual case of herpetic optic neuropathy in the contra lateral eye of a patient with acute retinal necrosis after improp...

Granulomatous panuveitis in disseminated sporotrichosis: case report and review of the literature
ConclusionsIntraocular sporotrichosis can manifest as bilateral granulomatous panuveitis in the setting of disseminated sporotrichosis. Treatment with intravenous and intravitreal antifungal therapy is useful for controlling intraocular infection. (Source: Journal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection)

En-face widefield optical coherence tomography angiography for understanding vascular networks changes in two cases of acute retinal necrosis
Conclusions and importanceEn-face widefield OCTA is useful for monitoring the structure of retinal vessels over time in acute retinal necrosis. Wide-angle OCTA is used to non-invasively examine retinal vascular dynamic changes in ARN. OCTA artifacts due to intraocular inflammation appeared, making interpretation difficult. These will remain as issues in the future. It seems difficult for a while to completely replace FA due to the problem of image clarity. (Source: Journal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection)

Recurrent post-operative endophthalmitis caused by Sphingomonas paucimobilis despite vitrectomy – a case and review of the literature
We report a case of a 75 year-old male who returned 10 days after a left eye cataract surgery with an atypical, indolent endophthalmitis. He was treated with broad-spectrum intravitreal antibiotics and vitrectomy, and despite initial improvement, the patient suffered a recurrence after 2 weeks, necessitating successive rounds of intravitreal antibiotics. While our patient was able to achieve an excellent final visual acuity of 6/9, there are several cases in the literature reporting similar cases with much worse visual outcomes. Further research is required to elucidate early warning signs that may indicate a recurrence of...

Total exudative retinal detachment in a child with pars planitis- a challenging case with optimistic results
We report a challenging total ERD as a complication of pars planitis. Although extensive and non-responsive to medical therapy, complete resolution and improvement in vision was achieved with surgical intervention and systemic immunosuppression. We specul ate that uncontrolled chronic vasculitic process culminated in diffuse ERD. (Source: Journal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection)

Ocular adverse events associated with immune checkpoint inhibitors, a scoping review
ConclusionThe aim of this paper is to provide an overview of all reported ocular adverse events related to the use of ICIs. The insights retrieved from this review might contribute to a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms of these ocular adverse events. Particularly, the difference between actual immune-related adverse events and paraneoplastic syndromes might be relevant. These findings might be of great value in establishing guidelines on how to manage ocular adverse events related to ICIs. (Source: Journal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection)

The outcomes of cataract surgery in eyes with Fuchs uveitis
ConclusionThe GC deposits and PCO development were the most important problems in these eyes with hydrophilic or hydrophobic IOLs despite good visual and postoperative results. New developments are needed in terms of IOL design or content in eyes with  FU. (Source: Journal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection)

Citrobacter keratitis: predisposing factors and clinical characteristics
ConclusionCitrobacter spp. is a rare cause of bacterial keratitis.Previous keratoplasty and ocular surface problems are important risk factors. The prognosis is not good and surgical tectonic intervention is required in many cases to resolve the corneal infection. (Source: Journal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection)

A systematic review of OCT and OCT angiography in retinal vasculitis
DiscussionThere were no clear OCT, OCT-EDI or OCT-A findings that demonstrated potential to supersede fluorescein angiography for assessing retinal vasculitis. Some signs of macular structural effects secondary to retinal vasculitis may help prognostication for vision. The OCT signs of inflamed retinal vessels and perivascular tissue is an unexplored area. Clinical relationship between dry eye disease and uveitis: a scoping review
AbstractThis scoping review examined the relationship between Dry Eye Disease (DED) and Uveitis. We searched Pubmed, Embase, and LILACS databases for articles in which at least one patient had DED and uveitis concomitantly. The search produced 2381 records, and 24 studies were included in the qualitative synthesis. We concluded that DED and uveitis of any etiology could appear concomitantly in patients of any age. However, both diseases seem to coexist more frequently in middle-aged women and cases of anterior uveitis. Therefore, it is crucial that ophthalmologists actively look for the coexistence of ocular surface abnorm...

Ocular symptoms in COVID-19 infection: a survey study
ConclusionsOcular surface-related symptoms are the most frequent ocular manifestations, and systemic disease severity is associated with the presence of ocular symptoms. Additionally, our results show that ocular symptoms can persist post-COVID-19 infection. Further work is needed to better understand ocular symptoms in COVID-19 and long-term sequelae.
