Pearls and pitfalls of optical coherence tomography angiography in the multimodal evaluation of uveitis
ConclusionsThe implementation of OCTA in the evaluation and management of uveitis disorders is being spurred by our greater knowledge and understanding of its application. In order to take full advantage of this exciting new imaging modality, however, uveitis specialists must understand the limitations of interpretation and potential artifact-related pitfalls in assessment and should continue to support evaluation with multimodal imaging to best optimize diagnoses and treatment of inflammatory diseases. Tuberculous uveitis: association between anti-tuberculous therapy and clinical response in a non-endemic country
ConclusionsIn a non-endemic setting, ATT for uveitis associated with a positive TB screening test may provide benefit in controlling ocular inflammation, particularly for those with posterior or panuveitis. The role for ATT in anterior or intermediate uveitis is less clear. (Source: Journal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection)

Dabrafenib for cutaneous melanoma infiltrating the vitreous: regression of metastasis and occurrence of uveitis as a secondary effect
AbstractIntraocular metastasis of cutaneous melanoma is extremely infrequent. This typically occurs in advanced metastatic disease and has a poor survival prognosis. The most frequent reported treatment is radiotherapy. BRAF inhibitors are new, orally administered and very effective drugs used for metastatic cutaneous melanoma. Herein, we report a case of a 58-year-old patient with a recent diagnosis of cutaneous melanoma who consulted for floaters and presented vitreous opacities in both eyes. A diagnostic vitrectomy of his left eye was performed and pathologic analysis disclosed infiltrating melanoma cells in the vitreou...

Wide-field fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography findings in the eyes with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease
ConclusionsEyes with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease had peripheral chorioretinal vascular leakage and choroidal vessel narrowing in the acute phase. Wide-field angiography is a useful tool to reveal peripheral chorioretinal findings and assess diameters and density of choroidal vessels. (Source: Journal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection)

Neomycin, polymyxin B, and dexamethasone allergic reactions following periocular surgery
ConclusionsThe rate of periocular allergic reactions to NPD ophthalmic ointment is significantly lower than reported in the literature for other topical preparations of neomycin and polymyxin B. The low rate of allergy in this study suggests that NPD ophthalmic ointment can safely be applied to the periocular skin with a very minimal risk of inciting an allergic reaction. Anterior segment optical coherence tomography and retained vegetal intraocular foreign body masquerading as chronic anterior uveitis
ConclusionsA missed intraocular foreign body can lead to sight-threatening complications. Anterior segment optical coherence tomography may be useful for detecting non-clinically evident intraocular foreign body involving the anterior segment masquerading as chronic anterior uveitis. Optic disc granuloma with epididymitis: a diagnostic challenge
ConclusionsThe index case of optic disc granuloma along with epididymitis had features of both tuberculosis and sarcoidosis and falls in the gray zone of tuberculous sarcoidosis and showed a response to both ATT and corticosteroids. We report this case report for its unique presentation. (Source: Journal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection)

Prevention of Bacterial Biofilm Formation on Soft Contact Lenses Using Natural Compounds
ConclusionThis study demonstrated that isolates from infected eye and CL-cases showed weak to moderate biofilm formation.Calendula officinalis andBuddleja salviifolia extracts showed excellent effect on inhibition and removal of biofilm, these extracts could be added into CL-care solutions which could markedly reduce eye-infections during CL-wear. Bioavailability of generic 0.05% difluprednate emulsion in the aqueous humor, cornea, and conjunctiva of New Zealand rabbits after a single dose compared with commercial difluprednate
ConclusionsDifluprednate penetrates into different ocular tissues. Generic difluprednate has a similar pharmacokinetic profile compared with commercial difluprednate. (Source: Journal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection)

Ocular infection with Gliocladium species —report of a case
ConclusionOcular infection withGliocladium species has not been previously reported. Poor response to steroids and uncontrolled diabetes should make the clinician aware of a possible fungal infection. Removal of the scleral buckle, identification of the causative organism, and use of appropriate antibiotics are important for the accurate management of the case.
